Plus size nursing clothing

Hey there,

I'm a new Mum and I'm plus sized - always have been. I'm adjusting to breastfeeding and trying to find way to breastfeed more comfortably in public. I'm sure it'll get easier with time but for now I'm looking for some ideas.

I'm having so much trouble finding nursing friendly clothing in bigger sizes. If anyone has had a similar experience and can recommend some normal clothes tat work well for bf.. I'd love to hear it.

I've tried a few button front dresses and tops but I hate that I still have to expose my breast quite a bit (the whole boob 😆) to feed.

Thanks 😊

Normal loose top over vest top. Pull the vest down and lift the top up. Although I have a relative who is plus sized and her boobs are also plus sized and pretty much everything she wears she has to expose quite a lot of boob to get her nipple in the right position, so she tends to just chuck a muslin over the top bit. Congrats on your new baby!

I’m not plus size but found it a nightmare trying to find nursing clothes. I found it easier to wear loose tops that you can pull up rather than down.
If you wear a cardigan or unbuttoned flannel shirt over the layer you’re pulling up that covers you up a bit more too.

I think this, plus a muslin/large scarf if you want more privacy is the way to go. A cardigan on top is also good.

I'm a plus-sized breastfeeding mama and I really struggle to find nice clothes (and bras!) that fit me.

I have bought these tops and some nice chunky cardigans to go on top. They are my staple. They also have nice nursing hoodies.

I bought bras which are incredibly comfy and great for big boobs too

Thanks so much for the links! It really is such a challenge l. So far I've avoided going out because of the awkwardness and hassle of bf in public. Im sure I'll feel more comfortable when I get some good staple pieces. Smile

Stick a t shirt under the button up shirts/dresses. Open the buttons, pull up the t shirt. Slightly cropped t shirts work well. This way I could expose just the nipple.
Also try feeding at home in front of a mirror so you can see how exposed/not exposed you actually are. Babies head will cover some.

I always wore H&M vest dress tops under a baggier normal top. They were longline, so good to wear with leggings and had adjustable straps like a cami so you could pull it down without garrotting yourself! Good luck, it’s quite daunting to start with but with a little practice you do get more confident :)

I'm plus sized and found some great bits online at asos particularly their popper sided maternity jumpers (I still wear them now) and even asda has some nice maternity things in bigger sizes online. But the one up one down with a scarf round your neck works really well too. Or a simple vest under a button down shirt. To be honest though once you are established you might just stop caring 😆 I certainly did. I also got some great bits second hand on ebay.
