Keep scouting online for one of these coats which are everywhere at the moment -

www.hush-uk.com/eleanor-longline-puffa-jacket-khaki/004144-2012.html

This one I like the look of but it's not in My size .

Has anyone got one they can recommend ?

Criteria are just not too bulky and good quality with the side zips for movement. Not too worried about fully Waterproof but happy to pay for decent one !

Thanks everyone lots to look at
Does anyone have the sweaty Betty one ?
Loved the look of it and know the brand is good quality but think it lacked the side zips so you have to walk like a penguin ?

[quote dillyanddally]This Emma Willis one form
Next is nice, you just have to keep an eye for different sizes to come back in stock

I just sold mine a week after finally getting one. I thought it felt flimsy and cheap. Way too light. I actually feel lienrhey ran out so ordered a pile from wish or similar cheeses counterfeit sites to meet demand. Was very disappointed as it was a roller coaster trying to get it where next would take my money then test me half an hour later to tell me it wasn't in stock after all but take 3 days to refund in which time the cost and another I was chasing would come in stock again but I couldn't buy it as next had my money then would be out again by the time it was finally refunded. Now I still have no coat 😆.

The other coat I mentioned was the M&S thermawarm coat for £99. Was cosier and better quality than next but again stock is in and outs Zara have a couple of nice ones, again never in stock when I look

ponkydonkey · 19/12/2021 12:31

I bought one from Hobbs too in green
I love it
It looked very similar to one in white stuff

But the hobbs one looked better quality with nice cuffed sleeves

pastypirate · 19/12/2021 13:22

I'm after the marks one it's a fitted puffer not a duvet my friend has it I'm c envious

AppleTree16 · 19/12/2021 14:20

@Laska2Meryls

Very similar thank you! May end up going for it if I can’t find the elusive one.
stevalnamechanger · 19/12/2021 14:29

Emma Willis did a line for next of something similar

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/12/2021 15:01

I've just ordered one from Superdry for DD ( she's fine with the logo as its a subtle one on the sleeve )
I was going to get the full length but she wanted the jacket (mid thigh) .
Zipped pockets , extra pocket to keep her Oyster card , washable , not down/feather (at her request) hoping the fur can come off (as its washable I reckon so)

LuchiMangsho · 19/12/2021 15:51

Two things to think about with padded jackets:

  • what are they padded with? Most are padded with synthetic insulation and will not be as warm as down
  • are they waterproof?
Laska2Meryls · 19/12/2021 15:57

The Hobbs one is supposedly water resistant.. I have a Musto padded parka ( but not padded like a puffa ), and that is fully waterproof .. but heavy ... I an hoping that the Hobbs one will be good enough for everyday usage

ResentfulAF · 19/12/2021 16:35

Mountain warehouse cosy wrap - in longer and shorter, water resistant and water proof, khaki or black

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 19/12/2021 17:55

The Superdry one is much warmer and thicker than the Next one. It also has better pockets. The logo isn’t all over it!

RubiesandRose · 19/12/2021 18:05

I've got this Whistles one in black but it comes in Khaki. No zip pockets but they are deep, so feel secure. I love it!

It turns out I am just really fussy as I still don't think I have found 'the one '
It needs to be midi length on me not knee length which I think lots of them would be .
I want the side slits and an uppy downy zip so it doesn't have to be zipped all the way down and I don't want it to be too heavy and bulky.
Size 10/12 which is out of stock in a lot of the ranges I have looked at.
I happened to be near a Superdry store today and tried a couple on which confirmed my fussiness.
One thing I have noted is that a lot of the models are wearing heels / skirts etc and the coats look more frumpy with my clumpy boots so I need to make sure it fits nicely.
My quest continues..

This one from Zara is lovely IRL, a beautiful mink colour...feather & down, side openings and a detachable hood.

I have a Monki one in a deep wine colour - looks great with a mustard scarf. Mine isn’t this year but I think they do the same one each winter.

JW13 · 21/12/2021 00:06

I have a woolrich puffer and love it but they are £££. They do have good sales though (mine was 50% off)....

I love this one:

And this one (the shine isn't for everyone though):

@AppleTree16

Whilst we are talking about puffers. I’ve seen two women with a long knee length puffer one recently, no hood (I don’t think) and in a really lovely light green / light olive / stone colour. I’ve searched high and low for it. Any ideas??
hi @AppleTree16 Appletree just saw this and thought of you ?

@JW13 these are very very lovely ! I can't consider spending £1000 on a coat though!
Maybe I need to wait for the sales but 10/12 Is already hard to find in stock.

OP posts:
JW13 · 21/12/2021 14:50

@Midlifemission I don't disagree!

I got mine for £350 in the sale and that's more akin to Reiss/Ganni prices although I appreciate still a lot. Cost per wear it's working out well though (especially for lockdown walks last year) Grin

Midlifemission · 21/12/2021 21:41

@JW13 it sounds like you found THE one for you !

I cane across one of the original Hush ones I linked too online at John Lewis earlier and have ordered it.

If it's not right I will return it and wait for the sales but I am pleased I will get to give it a try .

It's a Christmas gift from DH so he is pleased I have actually ordered one .

We will see - at least I can stop searching for a bit .

Thanks so much everyone for all the ideas!

If you're looking for a warm coat, I'd go technical rather than High St. North Face do some excellent super warm coats with good shapes (I've got one with a zip out puffer inner, waterproof shell, so can be worn in all weathers). I've got an Aigle long puffer one which I bought years ago, but is still going strong. Unfortunately they don't make it any more, but it's super toasty and warm.
