Night cream - acne prone skin

summertimerolls · 17/12/2021 00:21

I have cystic acne prone skin which is at the moment largely under control. I'm on epiduo which is brilliant stuff but so drying and I need a really good non pore blocking night cream to stop the tight skin feeling.

I've been using my Nivea Q10 day cream at night as well and tried the night version but oddly it made my skin really sting.

Any recommendations? Budget is probably around the up to £20 mark but can spend more if needed.

LRP Effaclar could be a good shout for you.

I’d try and live with it, I’ve had cystic and every moisturiser breaks me out.

LiveFromNewYork · 17/12/2021 20:42

I’d just use a very plain, unfragranced cream like Avene Tolerance or even E45, anything formulated/advertised for sensitive skin.

Cosrx rice overnight mask

La roche posay cicaplast baume b5

PlayItCool · 17/12/2021 22:24

LRP Toleraine or just use a hydrating serum. I hardly use moisturiser as serums are enough and don't break me out

JuliTooley · 17/12/2021 22:29

I use Oilatum. It’s unscented, less heavy than E45. I also have very sensitive skin (E45 causes chemical burns on my face) but have no problems with Oilatum.

Skin and me overhauled my skin. Around £20 a month full price i think but you can give it a try for a month for postage costs and then you can get discount codes etc.

Thanks so much everyone. Will look at la Roche posay as a few have recommended but will look at the others too. I definitely can't use nothing as I'm on the wrong side of 40 and need something at night!

I'd say Toleriane too.
Effaclar is great but it's great because it has salicylic in it for the spots, but if you're already using something for that, then you want something very gentle to repair the skin barrier.

Tinks15 · 18/12/2021 22:42

@PlayItCool - which hydrating serum do you use please?

dontgobaconmyheart · 19/12/2021 02:07

I like eucerin 5% urea cream for this. I have acne prone skin and am on a treatment that causes dryness also. It feels light for something that moisturises so well. I don't find it particularly breaks me out.

Otherwise aveeno cream is good, and cheap.

PlayItCool · 19/12/2021 06:19

@Tinks15 I like the Cerave one - it's quite thick for a serum so works for me as a very light moisturiser. I also like the LRP vit C one

Cetaphil
