Trying to sell baby clothes on Facebook.

So I'm trying to sell old, but near new condition, on Facebook. I've separated by age. Is it better to do a massive bundle, or to separate again by brand?

I've had no luck so far, but would really like some money for them so I can put that towards the next lot of clothes I need to get for them, but no one seems interested, they may not be designer, but they are like new condition.

I think bundle by age/size.

I suppose it could be the price, people want an absolute bargain -especially at this time of year. What sort of price are you asking & for how many items?

Maybe someone here could tell you if they think you need to aim lower?

Eileen101 · 16/12/2021 18:32

Bundle by age. You may not have much luck. The market for baby clothes is saturated over FB, eBay, vinted. So many bundles listed for low prices. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Jessie75 · 16/12/2021 20:27

Are used to always buy my babies bundles on eBay and Facebook and I would literally get 500 quids worth of clothes in for 25 quid

GrapefruitsAreGreat · 16/12/2021 20:34

There are specific group for selling baby clothes you can join which might be more successful than marketplace.

But from what I see baby clothes aren't selling that well unless very cheap/desirable brands.

LittleTwiglet · 17/12/2021 14:59

It was 120 items for £35-40 but no one has even offered, I know money is tight for everyone but it seems everyone wants something for next to nothing.
I think I may change it to £25 or something.

I think separate into smaller bundles and sell for £10 each making sure there’s lots of pictures and they’re winter clothes.

I’m looking at baby clothes on Facebook at the moment but only for 3-6 month girls clothes. I haven’t purchase any bundles because for lots it isn’t clear what size the clothes are, there aren’t lots of pictures and they’re for the wrong season. I don’t want to buy a massive bundle and take half the clothes to a charity shop.

LittleTwiglet · 17/12/2021 15:28

The seasons idea I think is worth me looking at, instead of doing the piles. It's the urge for space 🙄
Looks like I'll have to go all through it again 😞

I think smaller bundles too. I wouldn't want to buy 120 items at once from one person.

Take decent photos during daylight as well.

ivykaty44 · 17/12/2021 15:39

It was 120 items for £35-40 but no one has even offered, I know money is tight for everyone but it seems everyone wants something for next to nothing.

Reduce the size of the bundle and the price

I’d pay £10 for 3 new baby grows for example so 10 outfits for £10/12 quid

But I wouldn’t want to spend £40 for 120

I’d suggest splitting into 12 bundles for £5
If you sell 4 bundles you’ll still have made the same money

ivykaty44 · 17/12/2021 15:40

Sorry 8 bundles and it’s be the same money

LittleTwiglet · 17/12/2021 15:41

Yeah, thats true about the amount of items, I never really thought of it that way. I'll have to try and take a look in the evenings to take the photos during the day.

Try eBay x

Totalwasteofpaper · 17/12/2021 19:49

By age.

I think big bundles are too overwhelming

I tend to buy bundles of 10-15 items that are set up as outfits.

arleybarleybee · 17/12/2021 20:00

Try Vinted 🙂

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 17/12/2021 20:07

Yeah wjth a bundle that big I'd assume you were trying to use volume to conceal that about 2/3 of it is shite.

About 8-12 items is about my top limit for buying a bundle. Personally I prefer all trousers or all tops for example. Have a look on eBay for pricing (even if you don't list on there). Any more and I find I don't limlke half of it.

GingerbreadandJellytots · 17/12/2021 20:11

I would feel very overwhelmed by that many items, and also that's quite a lot of money for me. Less items but under a tenner I would be more drawn to as a FTB and once I knew the clothes are good then maybe a bigger bundle. Otherwise could risk getting a big bundle then finding out it's actually quite Smokey smelling and I wouldn't want my kid in it

GingerbreadandJellytots · 17/12/2021 20:15

Or as others have said, quantity covering up poor quality. I also agree with having bundles of items eg. Shirts, tops, hoodies, jeans, joggers. My kids usually have a surplus of one thing, and a shortage of another. Eg. 40 t- shirts, but no smart shirts. Or 30 pairs of joggers and only 1 pair of jeans. That kind of thing. So to buy a big bundle is a hassle as I would have to split and sell/donate the items I do and don't want. And this could end up taking more time and money investment to end up with a good price per item.

There are ofc people who do buy big bundles to split up and sell on, but they tend to want things at a really, really low price in order to be able to turn a decent profit themselves.

UsernameInTheTown · 17/12/2021 20:43

Baby clothes are so cheap new and round here everything does the rounds for free.

DixieSun · 17/12/2021 20:53

120 is ridiculous. Do them in bundles of 20 for £15

Arghlife · 17/12/2021 20:57

I'm currently looking at fb for baby clothes and I definitely agree with a smaller bundle/ lower price. I'm now on maternity pay so would rather spend 15/ 20 than 40 plus

Arghlife · 17/12/2021 20:57

Also, are you offering to post or is it collection only? I think that can make a difference too

GirlOfTudor · 17/12/2021 21:14

I bought all my bundles by seperate age.
The first lot I got was a massive box for only £20. Very, very underpriced tbh and I was sooo grateful because it included almost everything for the 1st 6 months.
My pet peeve with bundles is when sellers only take 1 photo though 🤔 Lots of photos are key!

LittleTwiglet · 18/12/2021 08:53

I try to take as many as I can with the limited 10 that they allow so I combine them using an app. It is collection only unfortunately as I've never been great with the premise of posting things. I will look to making small seasonal bundles I think.

I think 120 items for 20.00 might work - that's the maximum I would personally pay.

Etherealhedgehog · 18/12/2021 18:04

Yeah, I buy all mine on eBay but I definitely wouldn't buy 120 items at once. I need space too!
