Shampoo for hair that is both greasy and dry?

Have been trying to find a shampoo that works for me for as long as I can remember!!

My hair gets very greasy around the scalp which looks horrible and makes me feel unclean. But the actual tresses of hair get dry and tangle/shed easily because if it.

Has anyone ever found shampoos or other products that can help with both of these seemingly conflicting issues Hmm

I think the trick is only to shampoo the scalp. Do it in the shower. DOn't shampoo the ends. They'll get enough when you rinse the shampoo out. Similarly, don't put conditioner on your scalp, keep it to just through the lengths. If the lengths are very dry, put conditioner on them before you shampoo.

Basically you need to treat your scalp and lengths completely differently, as Dinah says.

Get a silicone shampoo brush
Only shampoo the roots, using the brush
Only condition the ends

More things you can do:

Put your hair in a bobble and then treat the ponytail with a hair oil -- anything from the chemist - Aussie Miracle or Argon Oil will do
Brush your hair with a Denham brush
If your hair is coloured, treat it with Olaplex or Innoluxe and then comb straight with a wide toothed comb

My hair is like this. I have come to the conclusion that shampoo doesn't work for it. It needs loads of product to look decent too, after a shampoo.

I've started doing conditioner wash only once a week and diluted bicarb wash followed by a vinegar rinse, once a week. It's a cross between the Curly Girl Method and Zero Waste ideas. It's never looked better, so I'm going to continue 😃😃

Do not use anything too harsh shampoo wise.... wash twice

Condition the ends only

I have fine hair and it does need washing every 2 days as it gets greasy
Also it's tinted

I use L'Oréal shampoo and conditioner

I use this too. The clay shampoo for oily roots and dry ends

I use clarifying shampoo and then a leave in conditioner for mid lengths and ends as I can control where it goes. Olaplex 6, l’oreal miracle oil (it’s not actually greasy if used properly), that kind of thing.

The Aussie Mega shampoo and conditioner pair works for me Smile

So frustrating, I know. I use Aussie miracle moist shampoo and the 3 minute conditioner. It's made such a difference to the condition of my hair. And once or twice a week I add a pantene mask just to the ends.

Only use sulphate free shampoo. It is more expensive though - I use OGX Coconut shampoo & conditioner and there are regular deals on it.

Sulphates are really harsh on your hair, but from a marketing perspective they are what gives the big fluffy bubbles that people associate with “clean”. You don’t actually need them.

OGX is quite bubbly though.

Yes try Herbal Essences Strawberry and mint shampoo and conditioner the latter of which which is in a large tube not bottle
