Found an answer to frizzy hair

I'm so happy I have to share this.

I have fine, wavy, coarse, frizzy hair.
I eventually got a Kerasilk keratin treatment and omg it's a game changer!
Could wear it up, wash it etc straight away. Had it done a week ago and washed it last night for the first time. Managed for the first time ever to dry my hair straight and no frizz!

I'm so happy! My hair is such a nightmare. I spent hours and £££ trying to get the frizz under control.
Treatment was pricy but won't have to spend endless money and time trying to control my hair.

So pleased 😀

It's a salon treatment that my hairdresser did.

Make sure you use salt and sulphate free shampoo and conditioner op to keep the end result for as long as possible.

Also you can buy the keratin treatment from Amazon and do it yourself. It takes lots of time but will save you lots.

My bushy frizzy hair is transformed and I'll have it done for ever more!

beatrixpotterspencil · 11/12/2021 16:54

I was hopeful from title that it would be something free, at home, easy...haha.

I don't mind a bit of frizz though. I find a good conditioner and/or serum and then drying my hair in a twist sorts it for me. As does using a britta jug filter instead of the hard water in my taps.

The good thing is, you are happy! I understand the stress of managing frizzy hair, i just think it needs to come back in fashion Grin Now THAT would be affordable!

Girlintheframe · 11/12/2021 17:34

Nothing worked for my hair. Well not once I stepped outside! Find it so much harder to handle at this time of year.
I'm honestly over the moon with how it's turned out. My hair is sleek, frizz free and actually shines
It's like a Christmas miracle 😁

It sounds wonderful to be honest.
i always worried it might work differently on mine because it is really fine. I have fairly flat roots that can need washing sooner than the ends!

Enjoy your xmas miracle Grin

Wash with conditioner, rinse, leave a conditioner in.

Balonziaga · 11/12/2021 19:54

Is this different to a Brazilian Blow Dry?
I also have a bottle of Cocochoco Brazilian stuff that I have yet to do - I need to find a four hour slot in my life to do it - but I have very similar hair to you OP, so deffo up for a game-changer!

SueblueNZ · 11/12/2021 21:00

Yes, I love getting keratin treatments.
I am in NZ and find that the cost varies enormously. The big name chain salon charges about $350' however I go to a little suburban salon and pay $90. Better still, the salon used to use a formulation that had to be kept on for 3 days before the first wash. They now use one that is kept on for 24 hours maximum.
Also, I used to have to wait for about a week after colour before getting keratin done. Now I can have both services done at the same appointment. Fantastic.
A 3-4 monthly keratin treatment is indeed a game changer for me.

@TheRedHen2
which treatment from Amazon would you recommend please?

Not sure if it's different or not. I know with some you have to keep your hair dry, not wear it up etc for 3 days but with this one I could wash it, so what I like with it straight away.

Whole process took about 3 hours. My hair is shoulder length so not that long.

Anyone with frizzy hair will know what an absolute pain in the arse it is, this has literally transformed my hair. Hair dresser thinks having it done twice a year will be enough to maintain it

I've done the DIY version from Amazon. (Quite a few years ago and there was a long thread on here, lots of us did it!)
I didn't like it as I couldn't get any kind of curl in it afterwards but if you want smooth & slick then it definitely works. Took me about 3 hours to do on long hair and it pongs a bit!

HumourReplacementTherapy · 12/12/2021 10:37

Found it! @TheRedHen2
Knew it was a long time ago! Shock

Have you used the Brazilian Hair Straightening / Blow-Dry Home Keratin Treatment from Amazon? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/1762123-Have-you-used-the-Brazilian-Hair-Straightening-Blow-Dry-Home-Keratin-Treatment-from-Amazon

flashbac · 12/12/2021 10:41

I used baby oil and then blow dry. Its cheap and it works.

Mercurial123 · 12/12/2021 11:01

The Goldwell Kerasilk is formaldehyde free, I think. I've had keratin treatments in the past claiming there was no formaldehyde. I may try this.

TheRedHen2 · 12/12/2021 17:18

I use the chocococo one from Amazon.

Jessie75 · 12/12/2021 18:47

It literally fries your hair though. Mine snapped off

TheRedHen2 · 13/12/2021 07:14

That's not been my experience.

Does it make it go a bit wet-look? I've tried this with a dab of coconut oil and it just wouldn't dry at all
flashbac · 13/12/2021 20:33

@talesoftheunexploded coconut oil is too thick. Baby oil, if used sparingly, does give a bit of a sheen on day 1 but then wears off to leave frizz free hair (I don't wash my hair daily). The trick is not to use too much and only use on the areas that need it.

Carebear62 · 14/12/2021 18:11

I’ve had this treatment professionally done on a number of occasions and totally love it as it calms my naturally curly (fine, but lots of it) hair so well BUT, it’s so expensive! Recently discovered OWOW and do it from home and has the exact same effect and only costs £40……time consuming, but well worth it.

cluecu · 14/12/2021 19:05

I'm interested in this but wondered what happens when the hair starts to grow? Does the treatment weigh it down at the roots and do you have different texture from root to rest of hair? Confused

Carebear62 · 14/12/2021 19:30

The treatment doesn’t grow out, it eventually washes out which is why it’s important to use paraben/sulphate free shampoo as it’s gentle and helps the treatment to last longer probably 3 months in my case washing my hair about twice a week.

seperatedmum · 14/12/2021 19:55

we tried it do a keratin treatment at home but still ended up like this- not that cheap either- just had it professionally done again
