Hiking boots - fashionable

I see women wearing 'hiking boots' but smart and rather lovely and would like a pair.

But I've googled and googled and struggling to find any Id actually wear. Do you have some for day to day which you love?

No budget restrictions really.

UGG do nice ones. They're comfy too!

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/12/2021 20:19

Grenson Nanette

gogohm · 10/12/2021 20:21

Real hiking boots are very comfortable but not fashion items - try Cotswold outdoors

Sorel

I have some fabulous, Meindl boots, proper hiking fare. The absolute comfiest footwear i have ever had the pleasure to wear. Unfortunately fashion versions are known to bloody hurt.

Sadly dont wear anymore as dont live in a place where i do heavy walking in all weathers. Were very suited to Cumbrian lifestyle though!

Just feast your eyes on these horrific socks, I have serious sartorial issues Grin

I have some gorgeous proper hiking ones but they are vintage and I've not broken them in yet and I suspect it won't be easy

Celtic & Co always have some fashion meets hiking boots.

These are the longer ones but they have shorter also

I too have a fabulous pair of Mindel hiking boots. But be wary, if you just want them for fashion, I think they are the wrong boots, as they are not designed for (hard) pavement walking.

I also have a black pair mountain warehouse collie boots that I wear on a regular basis...

Russell and Bromley do several hiker boots

Or do you want some beige ones?

@Ylvamoon, that might be where I'm going wrong - thanks!
I've been trying to break them in on short trips on pavements.

Grenson Nanettes are the ones all the fashion types, who are definitely not going hiking of a weekend, wear.

If you have wide toes and want a classic brown walking boot. I'm loving Keen's pyrenees

Ylvamoon · 10/12/2021 21:13

@KirstenBlest - yes, it's best to break them in on varied/ softer ground.
I did a lot of walking/ hiking on foot paths and in coutry parks with the Mindel ones to break them in. But I really felt a massive difference after a 6 day hiking holiday in France.
I would say first step get comfortable in them, second step is moulding to your feet over long distances, third enjoy ever after!

My Celtic and Co leather fluffy lined ones are more fashionable than hiking boots.. and very comfy/warm

Yes, this ^^

I have a sturdy North Face pair which do the job they're supposed to but they're not going to win a fashion award any time soon.

hobbyiscodefordogging · 10/12/2021 21:27

@DSGR sounds like we have the same boots from Celtic & Co. They are amazing aren't they 😍

RampantIvy · 10/12/2021 21:30

Do you want hiking boots or fashion boots? I'm afraid these features are usually mutually exclusive.

DSGR · 10/12/2021 21:31

Yes I have the black shorter Celtic and Co version - really comfy, warm and sturdy but without losing all fashion!

headintheproverbial · 11/12/2021 05:31

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Just to be clear - I'm after 'fashion' boots in style of a hiking boot. I've seen folks wear them and have been jealous.

I do walk and have walking boots already.

Thank you. Checking out the Grensons.

If you have the budget for Grensons, you could also have a look at Fracap (try Toast) and Paraboot (try Dick’s Edinburgh) - if I had the money, I’d go for Paraboot, the quality is excellent.

PlayItCool · 11/12/2021 17:17

I have a pair of Fracap - still going strong on their 4th winter 🙂

AwkwardSquad · 11/12/2021 17:45

@PlayItCool tbh I’d be incredibly happy with a pair of either the Fracap or the Paraboot, they’re both gorgeous!

What's your budget? They're everywhere from TU and Hotter, to sorel, timberland and Grenson
dumdedumpop · 11/12/2021 18:28

I really like these from Clark's but I couldn't justify that much money for boots that aren't waterproof as I needed practical as well as stylish
