I have a small white spot under my eye. I want it to go away, but how?

It's not a normal spot that will go in a few days, it's like a milk spot, I've had it for 2 or 3 months. Is there anything you can do to get rid or will it just go over time? Anyone know?

Sounds like a white head. A solid lump of fat and crud. If it is I've been told the only way to get rid of them is to lance it and scoop the lump out. But not sure.

sounds like a cholesterol spot
DP gets them, thats what the GP called them, he has since cut down on certain things and they went eventually, took ages though

... or (salon lady told me this) you can sterilise a needle, and 'pop' the spot with it, and squeeze the white stuff out. I do this now; works a treat. You have a titchy scab for a couple of days afterwards. They have a special name, hang on ... (wanders off to Google)

(wanders back) Milia! Here you go

This chap advises no squeezing; I leave it to your better judgment (I am an inveterate squeezer; nothing could persuade me to stop).

hoarsewhisperer · 18/12/2007 10:20

I'vehad one before and I did what Love and Squalor suggested - it worked. Bit painful though

PuppyDogTails · 18/12/2007 10:23

I'm a squeezer too, you do have to 'dig' a bit though to get the white bit out. Sorry, TMI!

SeaShells · 18/12/2007 10:26

I have these all the time, I generally just leave them, but have been known to tackle them with a needle sometimes. Glad I now have a name for them. Going to take the advice on that link, I get very dry skin on my face which leads to spots so facial scrub regularly would do wonders to clear the dryness and dead skin.

MerryPIFFLEmas · 18/12/2007 10:26

having seen that link what dp gets is different

SeaShells · 18/12/2007 10:27

Oh and after squeezing them, you'll have a sore little scab for a few days, using sudocrem helps it to heal alot quicker.

southeastastra · 18/12/2007 10:47

i dig mine out with a needle

MummyPenguin · 18/12/2007 12:40

Yes, Milia, I'd heard of that. Babies get them don't they? Usually new babies. I remember reading about them when I had DD, I think it was. I think she had a couple. Will have a look at the link. Thanks.

milia i think are caused by a 'build up of product' a beautician once told me. Ie not washing make up off!!

MummyPenguin · 19/12/2007 10:31

fess up time - I am guilty of that on occasion, particularly when I've been out on the p**s. Which has been fairly often lately...
