Help me find my perfect facial self tan: very fussy, sorry

For years I've used Clarins Bronzing Milk to tan my pale face. I use it all year round and to be honest my own white skin in the dead of winter is not a pretty sight. They've bloody discontinued it.

So I've been trying other products, and failing bitterly.

I absolutely do not want tanning drops. Been there, tried multiple brands, hate them.

I also don't want any kind of spray/tanning water product. Tried them too.

What I want is a light textured lotion or cream (or gel or serum) which is not designed to be mixed with anything else. I'm very fair so a 'gradual tan' would work, or a normal one in light to medium.

For my body, I swear by Bondi Sands. No arguments there. But I've tried their face spray, hated it. I've also tried Tan Luxe and Isle of Paradise sprays and drops, no joy.

Sorry to sound like a dick but money is no object here. If I love it, I don't care what it costs. I'm visiting the West End of London for a shopping blast tonight so I'll have access to every possible thing.

Any recommendations? My pale Scottish skin thanks you.

Amanda Harrington is amazing but it's applied with a brush ( from a spray bottle )

MorrisZapp · 09/12/2021 08:25

Do you spray it on your face and buff it in?

No7 gradual tan face moisturiser?

Pegasussnail · 09/12/2021 08:29

I know you said you didn't want it but the tanning water - you spritz it onto the brush annd apply and its great.

CarpeVitam · 09/12/2021 08:29

Clarins Golden Glow booster drops 🙂

No7 gradual tan face moisturiser?
Have you used this? There used to be millions of self tan moisturisers but now they've vanished. I'll check it out, thanks!

San tropez facial tan. I always get asked if I have been away!

eandz13 · 09/12/2021 08:39

Have you tried BS Liquid Gold for your face? I use BS too, the medium mousse for my body and Liquid Gold for my face since I discovered it. It doesn't cling to all of my imperfections and make them look muddy like many tans do, in fact it evens them out and moisturises them.

Isle of paradise tanning drops are fab..

MissingGrandstand · 09/12/2021 09:55

I know you said you didn’t want something you have to mix but agree with @CarpeVitam, the Clarins booster drops are fab. Can add a couple of drops to any moisturiser and feels like you can’t go wrong with them, even I can use them and I absolutely cannot apply tan to save my life!

My favourite used to an overnight face tanning mask - although it was just a thick cream really - by Vita Libre but the bastards have discontinued it. No funny smell, skin felt so Nourished the next am and it was lovely to decant into a small pot to take on holiday so I could put some on alternate nights before bed thus meaning I could virtually keep my head in the shade all day and still have a tan.

Watching thread for recommendations also Grin

Regards the Clarins drops ...I've heard on here that the body ones are exactly the same but as you get more volume they work out cheaper. Anyone tried them on their face?

lurkingfromhome · 09/12/2021 10:49

The Clarins tanning drops had absolutely no effect on my face at all. Nothing.

What I do swear by (and I know you don't want tanning water but anyway ...) is the Isle Of Paradise self-tanning water in Light. It's for the body but I use it on my face. Spray a bit on a tanning mitt, quick once over on my face every three days, wash the mitt once a week. Gets rid of that blue Scottish complexion and makes me look perky and not at all orange.

[quote nanbread]Have you tried James Read? Gradual tan in a cream

That could be an option, thanks nan

Sisley do an amazing one. Very very expensive but great for fair skin and lasts ages.

Sammysquiz · 09/12/2021 13:14

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz I use the Clarins body drops on my face and they work perfectly. It’s my desert island product (although to be fair would probably get a pretty good natural tan on a desert island Grin) as I look so much healthier and alive when I use it.

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz

Yes, I buy the larger one because they're identical! Definitely works out cheaper 😉
