Hush jumper - dry clean only?

I've got a lovely hush knit that says dry clean only, I can't be bothered with the faff or cost but should I risk washing it and if so -how??

Nah. Chuck it on a 30 low spin or hand wash setting. It'll be fine.

What's it made of? Heat and spin will shrink something so safer to hand wash .
Usually manufacturers put dry clean on the label to save returns from washing disasters or if they haven't even bothered to test the product , then they put the blame on thedry cleaner ! 🙄
To be safest I would hand wash in Woolite and squeeze in a towel to get rid of water and dry flat . A faff but annoying if it does shrink!

My machine has got a hand wash setting - shall I do that?

If it is very multicoloured, maybe they are worried that the colour will run. One or two colour catcher sheets would solve that!

If it is a very loose knit, I'd be tempted to hand wash and rinse and then put it on a short spin.

A bog standard jumper just goes on a hand wash cycle with wool/delicates detergent in our house. Keep the temp below 30 degrees.

Can you dry it flat (worst case, pop it on a towel)?

whenever they state this, and the item is not a coat or skirt, i simply wont buy it. I won't even buy cashmere if it is dry clean only. It makes me suspect that they are not honest or have quality issues.
They can keep it, I will go elsewhere Grin

Put it inside a laundry bag, or a pillow case secured tight with a hair bobble. (removed the risk of it getting caught to the inside of the machine). I would do the quickest wash with the lowest temperature, and accept there's always a risk. 🤞

What's the jumper made of?
Suggest try a hand wash first
