Intro to retinol

Morning all,

I've been using a retinol (supplied by a skin doctor I see for scarring at £75 a bottle) and it's revolutionised my skin.

I'm thinking of getting one for my mum to try as a Christmas present. She's mid 60s and not a skin obsessive (like me) so I'm looking for a budget one for her to give ago.

She likes Olay generally and Ive seen their retinol moisturiser and stand-alone, has anyone tried it? I wonder if it's so weak it's a bit pointless?

Otherwise anyone have any recommendations for a budget-ish retinol that's worth trying?

Thank you in advance

The best one not by a prescription service imo is Medik-8. You can start off with a gentle one and work your way up.

It’s gentle and I’ve never had purging etc. and I’ve really noticed a difference in my skin.

Retinol is a bit of a strange gift to someone who isn't a skin obsessive because it's not just the retinol but also the daily sunscreen use that you're gifting them, not everyone is up for that.

But if you wish to proceed regardless, I agree that Medik8 is a good shout as their formulation is good (the crystal retinal would be my pick for normal skin and the R-retinoate for very sensitive skin). A cheap starter retinol to also consider the is the indeed labs retinol resurface.

Thank you both for the very helpfully same recommendation!

However I do take the points about gifting it to a non skin enthusiast and the spf elements.
