Recommendations for shampoo, conditioner & face cream

Calling on the wisdom of mumsnet Xmas Smile

I am after some recommendations for salon grade shampoo and conditioner for fine hair, needing volume. I was thinking kerastase or l'oreal expert to give an idea of budget. Sillicine free might be preferable but not essential.

Also ideally a really nourishing night cream for someone who uses dermatica (so it doesn't need retinol) but ideally with an anti aging slant. Person is early 40s. Budget for that around £30 or so. Would be grateful for any recommendations please Xmas Grin

I'll reply OP, although I know very little about fine hair! However, my friend does, and she has used opalex I think in the past?

I just tried this www.lookfantastic.com/redken-extreme-duo-2-products/10606208.html and like it a lot.

Regarding creams I think the M&S ones get recommended a lot here.Maybe consider based on budget or skin type ?

I am using cetaphil night cream as I get my anti-aging from my serums I alternate medik 8 retinol and Estée Lauder ANR.

I use Dermatica and I really like the La Roche Posay hydrate cream. It's not the most luxurious one but I find it fab. Or Glow Recipe Banana Soufle is very hydrating - like that a lot too.

Thank you so much! I will research Flowers

Olaplex is good. My hairdresser recommended it to me. I use nioxin most of the time but use Olaplex when I’ve got a night out planned. It leaves my hair smooth and frizz free but just can’t justify the cost of using it all the time 🙈

I have fine hair in good condition but I need to be careful I don’t overload. Try Redken aerate or Guts as styling products.

I also like Aveda Rosemary and Mint shampoo and conditioner

I'm a Dermatica user and I swear by Khiels Ultra facial cream. My skin can be drying so I use this in the evening before Dermatica. It has no major active ingredients so safe to use with Dermatica.

I have fine hair and also like the Aveda range. Not overly fond of the abundance range but mint one is very nice.

JustLikea · 08/12/2021 23:18

I have fine hair and as per PP the main thing is to not overload.

Currently very happy with Herbal Essences / Kew Garden Strawberry and mint range

I use loads of different moisturisers depending on how my skins feeling but post retinol I do very much like Estée Lauder Revitalising Supreme + or M&S Ultimate Sleep cream of skin is feeling particularly dry

I think Olaplex is supposed to be good for fine hair. They have a range of products, hair masks as well as shampoo and conditioner. I was looking at Redken but it doesn't seem to be cruelty free.

The Olaplex no. 4 is shampoo, and 5 is conditioner. One 'intense' treatment I have seen recommended is the 0 treatment left in for a while before shampoo and conditioner. Then this followed by the 8. I don't know if the 8 is just for people who style their hair with heated tools.

I have the Aveda Mint and Rosemary Shampoo, which is lovely and refreshing.

Look fantastic may have some discounts. If you register, you get sent various 'offers'. They can be good value if you wait for the right discount to come along.

Aveda is always at a 20% discount somewhere and often you get a freebie thrown in.
