Gymshark vs Sweaty Betty

I love lots of stuff from SB, especially the Harmonise Luxe Fleece Hoodie. I have 3, having bought 2 in the Black Friday sale. Just had a look at Gymshark and I see the composition is similar, including that the polyester in there is recycled. There stuff is a fraction of the price of SB. I’d be interested to know how Mumsnetters have found the quality of Gymshark, especially where a comparison can be made with SB.

No comparison in quality in my experience.

Sweaty Betty beats Gymshark every time.

Having said that I do like some of my gymshark stuff but it’s what you pay for.

Sweaty Betty is excellent but I was surprised by the good quality of gymshark; the leggings especially are very good, wash well, keep their shape and don’t slip down or sag.

HarrietOh · 07/12/2021 16:33

They're both the brands I go to. However SB wins on quality everytime, it's just more expensive. I have tons of Gymshark leggings, but the SB are always more comfortable!

If you want excellent performance at a fraction of the price, then neither - Decathlon every time

ArabeI · 07/12/2021 16:38

I prefer the fit and quality of Sweaty Betty to anything else, though I do own some gym clothes from gymshark and other brands, e.g Marks and Spencer and they're perfectly fine.

ArabeI · 07/12/2021 16:40

Must have a look at Decathlon!

I do love my gymshark because I'm a stereotypical millennial. However I've noticed the seams going in the inside leg. It's not rubbing through (due to my chub) it's the seam almost unraveling which is a bit annoying but I do wear them a lot!

Thanks for all the responses so far. I have had a few things from M&S Goodmove range and they have been pretty impressive. Stylish and well made. They are too big for me now though.

Had a couple of pairs of leggings from Gymshark and the inside seam area a PP mentioned developed into a massive hole. They both ended up like that - the latter within six weeks or so!
My housemate also had the same issue.

Have been getting the SweatyBetty Power Leggings since and while sooooooo expensive, I haven’t had a problem with them at all. Looks like they are built to last. Shame at having to spend so much just to get something that doesn’t end up holey.. I think they were £70!

AnnieSnap · 07/12/2021 22:04

@llamakoala yes, the SB leggings are the business. It sounds as though they beat Gymshark out of the water on their tops too. So expensive, but I guess if we can afford to buy SB, the quality and comfort makes it worthwhile. I know I love wearing my SB stuff as it’s so comfortable.

Girlfriend collective

I can't answer the question but made my first SB purchase recently with 25% off for Black Friday(£80 down to £60) Then got unexpected 20% cashback through my bank account (£12) followed by unexpected 8% cashback via Airtime Rewards (£4.80). So in the end I paid 54% of full price! Still more expensive that GymShark I suppose but I was delighted.

AnnieSnap · 07/12/2021 22:52

Do tell more @Phrenologistsfinger

Wow @Niconacotaco that’s fantastic 🙂 and we’re you impressed with your purchase?
