Please help me find supportive yet acceptable undercrackers for DS

DS (nearly 14) has distinct preferences in the pants department. He's never liked trunks or boxers, despite the high street deciding that trunks are what any right-thinking boy over the age of about 7 SHALL WEAR> Hmm As a consequence, it's getting harder and harder to find him nice pants, which have to be briefs. At the risk of being accused of stealth boasting, he is now considerably heftier down there and needs something supportive. But they have to be briefs! He's not chunky in stature so men's briefs will be too big.

Last year we got some pricy M&S 'Autograph' boys' briefs for him which were nice thick cotton and maybe even double-layered? In contrast to the standard boys' briefs they do which are basically scaled up versions of the ones they do for 6 year olds and very thin cotton. Autograph don't seem to be doing this range this year and I'm struggling to find any thick cotton briefs, age 12-13/13-14 that are good quality and not just plain boring white. Next don't seem to do them.

I've begged him to wear the (very nice) trunks I've also bought him but they're definitely the second choice and apparently make his crotch sweaty. OBVIOUSLY neither of us want to be having this conversation and I need some nice thick briefs to put in his stocking at Christmas, plus feel obscurely pervy constantly fingering the boys' underwear in shops to check for quality and load-bearing capability, so please help me out! Grin

My DS 16 is well endowed, 6 ft tall and skinny athletic build and will only wear trunks but you can get very short leg trunks which he also has from Boss.
He favours M&S autograph trunks over his Calvin Kleins and he detests briefs with a passion. The Boss short leg trunks are from John Lewis.

I feel your pain though as DS is very particular about what he wears although he's not fashion conscious. I think he's slightly on the spectrum tbh

M&S have got 10 packs of briefs in OP at the moment @GlomOfNit

You could try Saxx which have a 'ball pouch' for extra support! They do briefs as well as all the other types. Not cheap but may fit the bill?

DS1 isn't on the spectrum (not diagnosable) but I would definitely say, if the broader autistic phenotype is a Thing, then yes, he is! Grin (DS2 is very definitely autistic and, oddly, doesn't give a shiny one about what he wears.)

Thanks, I'll give the short leg trunks a look.

Maybe try uniqlo? Their men's sizes go down to XS which is small enough for a medium sized 13 year old I think. And they have cotton briefs with a nice wide waistband.

Boss do v short leg trunks which are supportive. You can get them in sports direct pretty reasonably. Bought some accidentally for DH who does normally wear pants as he lives in gym shorts with inners and he was v WTF at how supportive they were but DS likes them and says they're good for keeping his cricket box in. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lots of pant talk in this house!

VitalsStable · 06/12/2021 19:00

DS just said Boss do good briefs too. He ordered some online when he forgot to take enough pants back to school one day. I have never seen them so hopefully they're washed at school 🤢

You might find what you want on line with Next. They tend to sell the childrens underwear in larger teenage sizes, which you don't get in the shops. Perhaps these?

Thanks everyone! lostandfoundedges those look good, I'd popped into the local Next and found nothing but we'll give them a try. Annoyingly, Next do really nice plain coloured trunks in good thick cotton, which I bought him last year and which he'll only wear if there's nothing else in his drawers.

Bamboo clothing do briefs.
DP wears their trunks and says they are supportive (he won't wear any others now for that reason), so I would have thought the briefs would be too.
