If your facial moisturiser doesn't have an SPF?

I'm about to try a new facial moisturiser but realised it doesn't have an SPF. Those of you who use a moisturiser without SPF, do you just apply a facial suncream under your moisturiser or is there something else I should be considering? Thanks

I use cetaphil moisturiser with spf 50 in the UK. Or Cerave with spf 50 on top.

I don't use any moisturiser normally, and definitely no peeling/acid/retinol type products - they don't appeal to me at all. So I can't comment on what happens if you don't use SPF when you have used those.

I only use SPF facial suncreams when going out for a while in the sun between May and August, and I'm a bit haphazard with that as I haven't found one I like and find them greasy, eye-stingy and generally annoying. I do like a big hat! I'm actually trying to find a light, non-greasy moisturiser with SPF at the moment, to be less haphazard with. I've liked samples of a Clarins one and a L'Occitane one, if that helps.

@LizzieSiddal

You really don’t need an SPF everyday in the UK, we need Vitamin D and in the middle of winter it’s very hard to get enough, so leave off the SPF. It’s just spouted by cosmetic companies to make you buy yet another product.
I use tretinoin so I need to wear it, I'm pale, burn easily and my mum had skin cancer With or without SPF, I'm deficient so I may as well take the high dose vitamin D and carry on protecting my skin as I will never get enough vitamin D from the sun!

Thanks for all the replies and for the advice to apply SPF over moisturiser. I'll be fine in the winter without an SPF but during the warmer months I just have to step outside in to sunshine and my nose/forehead start to fry (my skin tone could rival Casper the friendly ghost)!!

Wow I'm suprised at how many of you don't use a Sunscreen day to day!? Do you want winkles? Maybe you don't mind- fair enough.
Always moisturiser first then a separate Sunscreen on top OP 😃

We have family history of skin cancer - from family members who have never gone more far flung than France. I wear SPF over moisturiser before make up. Tend to clean my teeth between putting on SPF and putting on make up to give time to soak in so you don't get the ruining make up issues.

I use acids and tretinoin so wear spf every day. I recommend the cosrx aloe vera spf

I'm nearly 50 and have no wrinkles.

I wear a La Roche Posay one everyday- anti-shine dry touch is great for oily skin.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 08/12/2021 07:04

I use neutrogena face shield. It's non greasy and doesn't clog pores which is a must for me as I really suffer with acne. It sits great as a base for my foundation.

Me neither (49). I'm surprised anybody would think it was a done deal, tbh.

doadeer · 08/12/2021 21:32

I use a light Spf 50 every single day.

Supergoop, bioessence or any of the Korean ones
