Could I wear a jumper over this?

I will be travelling into London for a team Christmas lunch, and am planning to wear this dress:

www.hush-uk.com/athena-tiered-jersey-dress-cheetah-spot-black-brown/001419-3619.html

It's forecast to be chilly though, and I'm a cold person. Could I wear a jumper (or cardigan) over the dress, and if so, what type? I don't think anything I already have would really work, so would need to buy something.

Thanks

It wont be cold inside a restaurant. That will he perfectly fine. Wear tights and boots and your winter coat

Id wear a long cardigan with it and a thermal underneath

OhMyCrump · 07/12/2021 22:05

What about a long blazer type thing?

StarlightLady · 08/12/2021 04:13

It is a nice dress.

Places have heating! I wouldn’t wear anything under it beyond the usual. When indoors, you are likely to get too warm. Plus in my view leggings with it would totally kill it.

I’d layer up with a long warm cardigan and a snug coat. You can then slip them off when in the warm.

I don't think thermals are necessary. A friend did this once, was sat near a radiator as well in the restaurant and fainted! Much less stress to wear a jumper rather than having to strip down in the loo to take it off.

If you think you'll need to keep the jumper on, a cropped one would look fine. If it's just for the journey then have at it with whatever you've got lying about and whip it off when you get there.

If I'm going in and out of restaurants etc, I have silk blend thermals that dont overheat. Mine are M&S but are quite old so I dont know if they still have them
I also a fan of primark fluffy leggings. I quite happily sit in them in restaurants too.

Another vote for silk vest from Patra. The thing about silk is that you won’t bake in a warm room but it will keep you warm en route. And they are so fine they don’t bulk out your clothes.

You could. Dress would look like a skirt but it's a look. Jumper needs to hit on the hip or cropped to work, chunky knit but slim fitted to the shoulders (not a drop seam on the shoulder for example)

@Winnietherose

I have that dress and I wear this black jumper over it www.fatface.com/women/clothing/knitwear/bonnie-bobble-jumper/971003.html?dwvar_971003_color=true%20black&cgid=women-clothing-knitwear#pagination=true&start=61

It is quite fitted and is a good length with the dress. I like a jumper over a dress as it is comfier on the waist than a skirt.

Something like this! 🤦‍♀️

I'm a very cold person but the idea of thermals under a dress to sit in what's likely to be a busy and likely very hot at or restaurant is a bizarre one. Wouldn't a warm coat be the best bet for waking in between venues, train station etc then remove when you arrive. Dress looks warm enough on its own for any indoor situation

I would do a cardigan in a cropped length. I just think the loose dress and a long cardi is just too much material.

That or a nice black scarf wrapped around a few times, then take off when you warm up.
