I am SO SICK of frizz, please help me

I feel like I have tried everything but I’m sure there are other things…

My hair WAS very dry but Olaplex and an amazing deep conditioner have really helped that. But even though it’s softer and less dry it’s still so frizzy!

It’s naturally wavy and even gently curly in parts and I have masses of it, medium texture but LOADS of hair if that makes sense.

I am HOPELESS at blow drying it so I have started to leave it to dry naturally; this has also helped with the dryness. And tbh it was no more or less frizzy when I did blow dry. But I would rather refrain from blow drying still as I much prefer leaving it. It’s very bushy if I blow dry whereas I get natural curls if I leave it.

I mainly think I’m getting my styling products wrong, both the type and when I apply them. I have a microfibre towel. I have tried applying products to soaking wet hair and to (microfibre) towel dried and it’s still just as frizzy.

I have used expensive and cheap products, nothing helps.

Currently I am using (and not really liking) Noughty hair cream OR Noughty gel. I read that gel was good for frizz but it certainly didn’t seem to help mine.

Should I be trying a leave-in conditioner? If so any reccs, AND would I still also need another styling product on top?

Is gel good for frizz prevention, if I can find a better one?

Any good curl/styling creams?

And how the blooming heck do I apply them? Wet hair? Damp hair?

I’m following a tip of not fiddling with my hair once it’s drying… makes zero difference to the frizz Sad

Should I be drying with a diffuser instead of leaving it to dry naturally?

I have a silk pillow case. Zero difference (though I do like the sensation at least!)

Basically I am sick of looking like a frizzy mess and would love your help! Even a reduction in frizz would do, I’m not expecting miracles. All my friends/school mums/colleagues seem to have frizz free hair and I’m not sure what I’m getting so badly wrong!

This is really working for me at the minute: Garnier Ultimate Blends Nourishing Hair Food Banana Conditioner For Dry Hair.
Olaplex no3 was a disappointment, had high hopes for it!

Keratin treatment is really good.

Hi,
I started cgm in the first lock down and it's made a huge difference to my hair.
This website is really useful if you want to try cgm but don't want to have to actually read all the ingredients www.isitcg.com/
I use Shea moisture black Jamaican castor oil shampoo and the treatment mask now (both regularly on offer in boots), then lots of Pantene defined curl mousse. Takes about 30 mins total. Leave to air dry (working from home so I can) and then scrunch out any crunchiness from the mousse.
Curlygreeneyes on Instagram was my inspiration to try cgm - she's worth a follow for tips and entertainment, even though her routine is way beyond what I would have the time or patience for. Takes me about 30 mins now and lasts 3-4 days.

I used to use boots curl cream (which is good for weighing down hair/removing frizz but not cgm) but I'd still be guaranteed to be a frizz ball by the end of the day. It wasn't overnight and there was a bit of trial and error at the start but Cgm made a massive difference for me.

Hopefully you find what works for you!

Honestly I am a total tomboy and would never give beauty advice but...

The best thing I ever did was STOP using shampoo. I wash my hair with conditioner, twice, every 4 days. This totally cured my weak hair breaking as I think the natural oils were more protected. I think the same regime could get your hair to be more naturally tamed and less frizz.

Also I colour my hair and now the colour lasts soo much better. Shampoo totally strips your hair. That clean squeak is totally unnatural.

@Llareggub

I had a Brazilian blow dry. Expensive but it was amazing and should last 4-6 months. My hair sounds a lot like yours, but it’s been transformed. The hairdresser said it would be life changing and I laughed, but I must admit she was right. No more messy buns, frizz etc. My hair looks fab within minimal fuss. I washed it for the first time since the treatment and tried without any styling products. I went out in the rain today and it still looks frizz free. Worth every penny,
Me too! Life changing! Every 4-6 months, £200 (London) but worth every last penny

I've been doing CGM for a few months after a lifetime of straightening because of frizz, my hair is really really frizzy and was about to give up but have found what has been working the best for me and improved it immensely is: Mostly co washing but I use a clarifying shampoo every couple of weeks. Using Shea moisture black castor treatment every couple of washes and using a strong gel on top of a bit of curl creme. (I've found creme of nature's snot amazing) it really has improved things immensely.

I have fine wavy and frizzy hair. For mine, the biggest difference in frizz is when I brush or comb when the conditioner is in my hair and my hair is soaking wet. All the fine hairs that form the frizz get pulled into the clumps like that. I have a Denman-style brush or wide-tooth comb from Boots.
