When applying mascara don't forget the lashes at the very outer corners of your eyes. These are usually the longest lashes you have so emphasise them.

Apply foundation with a good brush, not fingers, and keep your brush clean!

I never get as good a finish when I use a brush I have to say. I think the heat from my fingers helps melt the foundation into my skin. Mary Greenwell does the same so I'm in good company!

Blend foundation as much as possible.

Wiggle mascara through the lashes. I find it helps to apply the second coat before the first coat dries.

If you apply eyeshadow, use a separate blending brush to soften all the edges.

Separate brush is good advice thanks

I use my hands for all my makeup as it's mostly cream and then bounce a damp sponge over at the end to make sure everything's blended.

I only apply cream highlighter to the areas of my face that actually catch the light if I move my head rather than a standard placement like I see a lot of YouTubers do.

Fluffy brush to buff out edges of powder shadow or ring finger for cream to make it look like it's blurring into the skin.

One dot of concealer on inner eye and outer corner then blended rather than a stripe or triangle

All things that have worked for me after much trial and error. I wear quite simple, no makeup makeup now after years of experimenting with glitters and colours

That's my kind of makeup too, thank you!

I love them too! And Amy Conway. I went to BB to see her tutorial pre-covid and her make up and skin were flawless

A good concealer and primer .

Gently tap your eyeshowdow brush on the edge of a table before applying, it stops you overloaded on it.
I like to line my lips after lipstick as it goes on smoother and defines your lips better.
I always warm up pencils on the back of my hand, and also foundation as it makes it easier to apply.
I use dark eyeshadow instead of eyeliner, it gives a softer look.
Don't pump your mascaras, it'll dry out quicker.
If I've got a lipstick that I don't wear much (bold evening shade etc) I'll wipe it on a alcohol wipe before storing it as I think it will last longer before going off (I've had a few Mac ones go off and I hate throwing them out). I'm not sure this will help but it's worth a try and can't hurt.

Could you post a link to the foundation brush? Haven't had much luck with brushes and struggle to use them. Tia x

Use an egg shaped sponge to apply foundation buy first dampen it with make up setting spray

It will really improve staying power

Tightline upper eyelashes ( its an extra step and you need the right liner than goes on smooth and dries quick ) I use a Revolution liner pen.Makes my upper eyelashes look thicker which is a miracle in itself .
Then a hint of liner under my bottom lashes , Barry M metallics in grey or purple are my favourites .

StrongSunglasses · 03/12/2021 12:43

Lash primer is an essential item as far as I’m concerned!

I use Lancôme cils booster XL 😍 with hyponse on top and always get compliments on my lashes.

Also a good finishing powder really brings everything together. I use Laura mercier translucent loose powder or Givenchy prism libre no.3 (voile rose)

Secret weapon is probably Chanel le blanc - can be used under, over or mixed with base for general illumination and/or more specific highlighting. But gives a halo type effect used mixed with primer/foundation and only need a tiny amount.
