Do you take collagen supplements? Do they work?

I've been considering starting to take collagen supplements. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations they could share please? Are they worth the ££?

Thanks!

I took the Dose & Co powder for a month and didn't see any discernible difference in hair, skin or nails (I did before and after photos).

However, I have seen that you may need to give it three months for something to show. I remain unconvinced.

Thanks. My hair and nails are ok, but my skin has suddenly lost all its plumpness! I was hoping collagen might be the miracle solution 😬

Apparently reverse life collagen is meant to be quite good. Fairly pricey though

I do, for joint pain, but only because I was given some and not because I really think it works. An orthopaedic surgeon told me there was no proof it worked at all, but it wouldn't do any harm.

Not sure re taking it for aesthetic reasons. I don't think I look any different!

I take one I buy on Amazon. It costs about £10 a month and I think it works well. I've been taking it for about 5 years, so since my mid fifties and my skin hasn't developed any new wrinkles. Although I wasn't very wrinkly anyway so it might just be coincidence. I also take a biotin supplement.

I tried it, didn’t make any difference. What worked miracles was when the baby started sleeping through 🤣

ChirpyChirp · 30/11/2021 12:34

Fair enough - not a miracle cure! I shall cultivate a DGAF attitude and wear my mid 40s skin with pride 😄

I can't see how it would work, once the capsules enter the body they will be digested and broken up. I do have collagen drops which I put on my skin, they do give me a glow.

I take Holland & Barratts Marine Collagen. Noticed huge improvement, after 3months, to joint discomfort, and skin/nails looking far healthier.

Do you know the name of the one you take? Thanks x

Thank you I’ve always said that too, as if the blood knows this is special protein and must be carried on a red cushion to the skin, hair and nails. If it works why don’t keratin supplements get sold?

You break down protein to amino acids and your body wees out whatever it doesn’t need. Nature doesn’t give a shit if your wrinkly.

ChirpyChirp · 30/11/2021 15:16

🤣 that's true.

I'm looking into the drops now instead, with the added benefit that they aren't going to taste like seaweed...
