Postpartum Christmas

Looking for suggestions for “Christmas Day” outfits three weeks after giving birth. We have a few family things planned around the festive period.

Pre-pregnancy I was a size 10/12, and haven’t put on much anywhere expect my bump…but I am measuring in the 97th centile and am huge!

Obviously none of my pre-pregnancy clothes will fit, but I’m not sure if maternity clothes will look silly or not?
I also plan on breastfeeding so is a wrap dress the easiest way to dress up but still be practical?

Thanks for any help Smile

Go with something comfortable. You say 3 weeks, but if you go overdue it could be just one week. If you have a c section then stretchy is the way forward. Wrap dress is a good choice. I was in hospital on Christmas day with one of mine, so was in very "fetching" fairisle style night wear.

Loose jogger pants and sweatshirts/hoodies in bright colours for comfort, easy to wash etc? Anyone who gives a rat's arse about what your'e wearing when you've just given birth can get stuffed! Or you could get some stretchy black pyjama bottoms/leggings and wear long tops/jumpers.

@Usuallyhappycamper
I’m already over due, my midwife had previously mentioned needing to be sectioned at 38/39 weeks, but things changed and now I’m 41 weeks and waiting patiently on baby making their entrance! Definitely something stretchy/ floaty incase I end up with a section.
Christmas in hospital, oooft. At least you got the best gift Grin

@Couchpotato3
I don’t think anyone else cares, only me! Although maybe I won’t care when the time comes Hmm I was thinking maternity leggings would still be a safe bet for comfort ..

My dd was 4 weeks old at Christmas the year she was born (so this is her birthday weekend 😀😀😀) and I loved dresses and thick comfortable tights . I was very very lucky after her I went back into size 10 clothes straight away but my shape was different so my old clothes didn't suit me if that makes sense but also I didn't want to be in maternity clothes. Tunic style dresses were great and I could dress them up or down and got the rest of the winter out of them

I would say some soft maternity leggings and some sort of long wrap dress to go over it. Frugi does some great breastfeeding dresses that still look nice.

If you're wanting to feel a bit more special, maybe treat yourself to a new pair of maternity leggings and not the bobbly, worn ones you've been wearing through pregnancy 🙂

I had a 10lb -er 4 days before Xmas- felt yuck. Wore a oversized batwing jumper with gold on it and that helped with comfort and not feeling too under dressed.
It was this but batwing: ilovezilla.com/collections/shop-page-1/products/unisex-bonnie-black-and-gold
