Shoes for smart London office + commute!

I’m a bit out of touch so wanted to ask the collective wisdom of Mumsnet for this! I have a new role which involves spending some time in a London office - think fairy smart consultancy - plus a commute with some walking involved. What shoes would you recommend in this situation? I’m looking to pick something up in the Black Friday sales and happy to spend more on an investment piece if necessary. Thank you for your help and links!

Smart trainers for commute. Don’t try to get one pair of shoes for both.

What’s your style? How old are you? Who is your “I wish I was as cool as her”? Is the office cool or conservative? Heels or flats?

Trainers for the commute and shoes in your bag/kept in office.
I wear trainers for work, so can't help on smart office attire!

Thank you both! Mid forties. I love Gillian Anderson’s style in Sex Education. Haven’t visited the office but sense possibly more on the conservative side. Flats preferred.

Chunky loafers are the obvious choice right now. Smart, flat and on trend. Choices everywhere.

I'd still keep some trainers for the commute tho.

I tend to wear ankle boots with everything. I don't have a massive commute though although it's longer when I factor in the nursery run some mornings (c. 20 min walk).

I do a lot of walking in my role - I'd say decent ankle boots (lots of different styles work, depending on your personal style/office needs), with insoles as they can be very flat and hard on your back/ankles.
