What's the cheapest item you've got that was still good value?

Cheapest: I went to a secondhand swapping event, you hand in stuff you don't want and get a token for every item they put everything out and then release you to try on. You cash in your token for a different item. I got some black Russell and Bromley lace up boots. So only 'cost' my time and the exchanged item.

Good deals three for one pound baby clothes in Salvation Army charity shop near me

Got some brown Russell and Bromley ankle boots for a tenner at local street jumble sale

Years ago. An electric blue cropped wool jacket for 50p at a friend's community garden summer fair

I bought a Led Zeppelin t-shirt at a car boot for 10p in 2012 and it's still going strong.

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 27/11/2021 07:58

Alexander McQueen skull scarf, 30p at a car boot. Years old but still feels luxurious and goes with everything

Inthesameboatatmo · 27/11/2021 08:14

A pair of Panama jack ankle boots from my local salvation army charity a few years ago, 2.75. Worn every winter amd still going strong.

LookdeepintotheParka · 27/11/2021 08:25

I have the perfect sleeveless knitted top which I bought for £1.50 in a charity shop at least 10 years ago. It's by Planet (does that brand even still exist?) and I've worn it at least once a week to work.

It's just such a perfect, useful item and I still get so many compliments on it! I have tried to replace with more expensive versions along the way but nothing has been as well fitting or long lasting.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 27/11/2021 08:28

I have four cotton tops from Primark that I bought about 8 years ago for £2.99 each and they wash so well that they still look smart for work.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 27/11/2021 09:16

Basic primark vests, I wear them under everything every day

SommerTen · 27/11/2021 09:27

My £2.50 Primark leggings

Wagsandclaws · 27/11/2021 09:52

I got some mint velvet trainers in blush suede which were like new for £13 inc postage - I love them! 😍

Primark vests - £2 bought when on maternity leave either 6 or 10 years ago.

A band merch t-shirt- £15 but 10+ years old.

I've got material second hand and made clothes so they work out ~£8 for a pair of trousers, ~£15 for a winter coat.

nanbread · 27/11/2021 10:14

A pair of green paper bag waist twill trousers I got for something like £2 in a charity shop sale. They're only Zara but they fitted perfectly and became my favourite trousers. I must have worn them 100 times.

HotSteppa · 27/11/2021 10:32

I have a long bodied H and M T shirt I bought for 99p in a sale over a decade ago I still wear it all the time

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 27/11/2021 12:15

Khaki cargo pants in Gap for £8 six years ago. Cost per wear must now be about 1p and I still love them every time I wear them

WildStallyn · 27/11/2021 12:29

Denim jacket, £30 in Topshop just over 20 years ago. I've worn it regularly ever since. I reckon its cost about a penny per wear.

Some jeans from Primark 3 or 4 years ago for about £10 that are still going strong.

A Hobbs pure silk dress, £12 on eBay.

Thunderface · 27/11/2021 12:33

I bought a couple of tops for work for €3 each in a sale last year. Man made fibre and not something I would wear outside of work but they wash well, never crease and look like they will last me til retirement in 20 years Grin

A pair of £400 Hogan boots unused for £8 and a Stella McCartney chunky cardigan for £15 both from charity shops. In fact my list of newish bargains from charity shops is quite long.

AurevoirLesEnfants · 27/11/2021 13:47

My dad gave me his old anorak and I've had it for at least 7 years now! It's amazing for properly bad weather, properly in the wilderness, as it's bright red so I'm easily seen, in case I get lost. I wouldn't wear it even in heavy rain on the school run! I have a slightly less garish anorak for that.

ablutiions · 27/11/2021 13:52

A butter soft leather jacket. Brand new when bought from my local charity shop for £16. Amazing garment.

Also £5 for a brand new sky blu e cashmere pashmina from the same shop.

Wonderful!

SommerTen · 28/11/2021 13:18

I've also got lots of free things that my mum bought for herself but decided weren't for her... luckily she's into fashion.

For example a lovely Next swimming costume; a navy low back studded Next top; a few vest tops; a few jumpers etc (mainly pink as she likes to buy pink items but they suit me better than her).

Arethechildreninbedyet · 28/11/2021 13:34

A pair of Doc Marten boots bought for £32 in 2005 years when I was in my teens. I wear them every year for months.

They were in pretty shocking shape until DH got his hands in them about 5 years ago and buffed them to within an inch of their life, they’re like new even the soles are fantastic.

They’re not the only brand of boots I, or the children, ever wear I’ve never found any other so consistently reliable and they have a brilliant resale value - especially for the kids!

Arethechildreninbedyet · 28/11/2021 13:35

Also an all saints leather jacket I bought from eBay in college for £21.

It’s like butter and immaculate.

CurlyFerret · 28/11/2021 16:40

Bit similar to the OP I guess in that I’ve just recycled a couple of old cashmere jumpers with Turtle Doves and paid postage - getting a pair of fingerless gloves back for each jumper. Fab!

JaceLancs · 28/11/2021 18:25

Anything from a charity shop! Just been away and needed a few new things due to weight gain - bought everything second hand
Item I felt best in was a fenn Wright Manson dress which I paid £3.99 for
