'Lightening drops' for foundation (to make it lighter)

I think they exist but who makes them?
I've made an expensive mistake with a Dior foundation. I bought my 'old shade' but since it's been reformulated the colours aren't quite the same.

I am sure I have seen small bottles of stuff you can add to foundation to make it lighter.

Just mixing with moisturiser should work. Dab some foundation on the back of your hand and mix with moisturiser (like mixing a paint palette) and then put on face.

I bought some from primark, a light one and a dark one. They are a bit tricky as sometimes the shade being wrong can't easily be corrected by just lightening or darkening it but it might have been because the primark ones weren't very good!

I think Nyx does one

WrinklesShminkles · 27/11/2021 13:40

I think I've seen some in one of the ranges stocked by Superdrug but can't remember which.

RosieCockle · 27/11/2021 13:41

Body Shop, I think.

LBOCS2 · 27/11/2021 13:42

Body shop definitely does.

RosieCockle · 27/11/2021 13:43

Oh sorry, it's been discontinued

DramaAlpaca · 27/11/2021 13:44

I got some Boots No. 7 drops recently, but they were in the sale so I think they might have been discontinued unfortunately. They had all the shades their foundations come in.

I bought foundation drops in a super pale shade from Revolution Pro for this purpose. It works well! I looked everywhere for lightening drops but couldn’t find any.

Thanks all.

I've got a nice Chanel lumiere foundation that's just a bit too dark and a bit too heavy. I mix it with a very light CC cream (Bourjois) which I also bought by mistake. Makes the perfect combination.

M & S used to sell Autograph Custom Colour in four shades to adjust foundation colours. It's been discontinued but there are lots on Ebay. I have the Dark which I use to add a golden tint to moisturiser (sort of my own BB tint) but there is a Light version which is great for lightening.

I've got Illasmasqua Skin Base exactly for this reason in white - shade 01. It's a proper foundation so I just mix it in and it's brilliant.

I had the body shop ones when a foundation was unexpectedly orange - just made it pale orange. Agree with PP that you might need something to correct the tone rather than just make it paler.

I have the Body Shop lightener and darkener and LA Girl toner in bright blue that fixes foundation that is too orange.

Thinking outside the box slightly...

Could you go to a Dior counter, explain that you were caught out by the formulation changing and ask if they could give you a lighter sample of the same foundation to mix in?

Better still, could you return/exchange seeing as the issue is due to reformulation and not your own error? In your shoes I'm not sure that I'd be accepting the issue as mine to fix!
