Comfy party shoes!

Tiggytico · 26/11/2021 21:08

Searching for the holy grail.....

  • black
  • closed toe
  • ankle strap if possible
  • prefer suede/suede look as think that looks a bit less workwear
  • low heel or flat
  • budget up to £100
  • must be comfy!!
  • to wear with knee length Christmas party dresses!

Has anyone seen any? I think there's a gap in the market!

Thanks

Mary Janes?

Justmuddlingalong · 26/11/2021 21:16

Have a look at Moda in Pelle. Lots of styles and the few pairs I've got are really comfy.

@JaninesEyePatch Can't believe it! I have those exact shoes! They are super comfy and could wear them as a back up absolutely. Smile

I’m 46 and wouldn’t be seen dead in those Gabor shoes! They look like something my mother in law would wear to a funeral. No offence but you are young and could wear something much more flattering!

I think you need to either go with an edgy flat or an open toed higher heel. Anything mid height and closed toe will either age you or lead to sympathetic comments about assumed orthopaedic problems. If you go for black then definitely no black opaque tights, I personally think party heels look better in a more neutral colour like a gold or a nude, with natural or fake tanned legs.

I am not great at walking in v high heels plus they make me about six foot, so tend to choose blockier heels but something with an edgy aspect eg studs or buckles or rouching

Tiggytico · 26/11/2021 22:19

@Captainj1 - do you have any links? I'm really struggling! Thank you!

I think it depends on the style of dress also? What shape are the dresses?

Here’s a few ideas of the sort of thing (platform heel might be a good option as you get the height without crippling yourself):

AurevoirLesEnfants · 27/11/2021 14:52

Sorry, but I agree with @Captainj1 on the Gabor ones!

AurevoirLesEnfants · 27/11/2021 14:53

I quite like the Asos ones posted^^ and they seem to fit the op's brief the best.

Tiggytico · 27/11/2021 21:53

Thank you so much for the suggestions and I get what you're saying about the Gabor ones..... But I do think that there is a gap in the market! Love most of the shoes you've linked to; I've had plenty similar over the years (and still have tucked away at the back of the cupboard), but I just can't walk in high heels anymore - I literally fall over (and have done on many occasions)! Not a good look at all. It might just be that I have to change the clothes to make sure I can wear shoes that go with them without looking like my mum! (she probably wouldn't wear those Gabor shoes either though).

Really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

There's definitely a gap in the market. Totally flat pointy shoes aren't comfortable either but that all that's on offer.

Stoic123 · 27/11/2021 23:56

The best flats I've seen are, unfortunately, Jimmy Choos so outside budget (mine too!).

What about these from Boden? Prefer them to the Gabor ones.

@SprayedWithDettol and that is my problem!! This is what I ordered (and returned) from Shein in November 2020!!!

Comfy party shoes!

Tiggytico · 28/11/2021 08:28

I just want to be able to dance the night away, wear a pair of skin coloured tights in the middle of December, not fall over, walk the half mile to the venue and not have to resort to dancing and walking home in bare foot! (Yes I have a pair of those little fold up handbag flats, but thinking if I'm only going to wearing my nice shoes when I'm sat down and feet are under the table then not much point)!!

These?

Comfy party shoes!
Captainj1 · 28/11/2021 10:34

Sparkly trainers maybe? I often wear trainers with dressy outfits when I just want to dance. As you say if you’re sitting the rest of the night who cares!

PurplePosies · 28/11/2021 10:40

Esska have loads of options.

Pattygonia · 28/11/2021 10:54

When I go to a ceildh (Scottish friends) I always wear proper dance shoes from Freed - take a look at ballroom or salsa shoes. They are super comfy and literally made for dancing!

Gonnagetgoing · 28/11/2021 11:43

I agree with you OP. I’ve bought flat suede almond toed shoes at Dune before and I’ve got a few pairs of metallic trainers.

I’m too old or don’t want to wear very high heels or open toed shoes/sandals anymore.

Gonnagetgoing · 28/11/2021 11:52

These are similar to the other office pumps but with a strap which may be easier to fit to slimmer feet.

www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/7,342/4416908420

The ASOS studded pumps that @Captainj1 linked to are nice but the reviews are awful, a lot of them the straps fall apart. I’d pay good money for a decent pair of party shoes (not saying I’d splurge on Jimmy Choos!) now if they were the right ones. Disclaimer: I’ve had Gina and other strappy shoes/sandals in the past and though they’re somewhat more comfy than cheaper brands they still hurt in the end. I’ve got Loubous that I rarely wear or for only short periods of time because they bloody hurt!
