Eyebrow threading

I've been getting my eyebrows threaded since I was in secondary school and everytime I get them done I cry! I used to get them done twice a week and both eyes would still water. I now get them done once a month but just wondered how many other people's eyes water when getting their eyebrows threaded?

When I'm in the shop I never see anyone else crying so thought I'd take it to MN😂

(also when I say eyes watering I literally have full on tears streaming down my face!)

It sounds like you have a very sensitive eye area. My eyes water easily too and I've just learned to accept it that we are all different

Kippersfortea · 26/11/2021 11:23

Sorry I can't be more help!
You're not alone in this though

bratzdoll · 26/11/2021 12:41

Yeah I definitely think I have a sensitive eye area but glad to know it's not just me😂

Yep me too, I'm sure the person doing the threading sees it all the time though so don't feel embarrassed.

My eyes water all the time - slightest bit of cold or wind and they start.

Have you tried taking painkillers 1hr before hand?

Snoopsnoggysnog · 26/11/2021 16:21

I used to be obsessed with it but like you now only have it done once a month or so. It makes my eyes water too and makes me sneeze

HiGunny · 26/11/2021 17:09

No tears for eyebrows but I once got my upper lip threaded and had tears flowing down my face. I've seen other people dabbing at their eyes after getting their brows done so I doubt you're alone!

I do find my skin is more sensitive around the time of my period though so try and time it correctly.

Yes, threading makes me cry. Switched to waxing, and find it much more comfortable.

@FestiveMayo

I haven't you know haha. I didn't think it was that serious! Do people actually do that?

I take painkillers before waxing. Makes such a difference!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 26/11/2021 22:05

Don't get it done when

  1. It's hot/you are hot or
  2. When you're due on

Avoiding both those mean I'm just left with going bright red for about three hours afterwards, rather than bright red and with tears rolling down my face.

Yes, I do have sensitive skin. I've got the type where if you run your nail across it, I come up in big wheals (dermatographia, I think it's called) like I've been attacked by a tiger with PMT.

ParkheadParadise · 26/11/2021 22:11

Not my eyebrows BUT when I got my upper lip threaded I cried in pain and told her to stop she said I'm not finished I wasn't caring. I've had 2 children and I've never felt pain like it. She didn't charge me 😂
I get my upper lip waxed without any problems.

ISeeTheLight · 26/11/2021 22:17

I have very sensitive eyes and skin and I also cry. Even after years of threading. I do find some beauticians manage to do it less painfully than others somehow.

LunaLoveFood · 26/11/2021 22:37

Mine water every time too, but I'd much rather that than my poor dsis, she sneezes loads every time she gets hers done! A few times there has been near misses where she has almost lost an eyebrow! She's given up now and gets them waxed.

golddustwomen · 26/11/2021 22:39

Me too! Also I seem to hold my breath and feel completely sick the whole way through! It's torture but I still do it every 4 weeks Blush
