rags of material.

get dd to hold one end of the strip on her head

you wrap the section of hair around the rag starting from the roots and working down - in a spiral

when you have done that you then wrap the fabric around the hair working from the bottom up

tie the 2 ends together

you end up with ringlets?

tiredemma · 15/12/2007 20:01

does this help?

Lubyloo · 15/12/2007 20:01

Just take a section of hair. Place the rag at the bottom and roll up (as if the rag was a roller) when you reach the top just tie the ends of the rag together. HTH

ChristmasSendsMePsycho · 15/12/2007 20:02

wow......quick....thankyou so far

When I do DD's, I just take a section of her hair and twist it round and round until it twists back on itself and then secure it with the 'rag'.

ChristmasSendsMePsycho · 15/12/2007 20:06

am doing said ragging while reading thro these....not one so far is the same!!!

hey ho....teacher specified not perfect. she'll get odd at this rate tho

Take sections of hair about an inch square. place end of section in middle of rag and roll down to head. Tie ends of rag together.

Or place rag at base of section, hair in middle and wrap rest of hair round rag quite tightly. Twisting hair first might make it easier.

Really hard to explain this!

ChristmasSendsMePsycho · 15/12/2007 20:09

really hard to understand and do too.

poor girlie....am pressing down so hard she getting neck ache. she's appreciating the break while I am here reading and writing.

bless her, she better be pleased (or, more to the point, the teacher better be!)

I used to do this a lot.
Damp hair.
Cut strips of cloth.
Roll hair onto cloth, random thinnish sections.
Tie cloth when you get to the top.
Take off after sleeping (ie not much sleep as it is so uncomfortable)
It should go a bit wild.
Tip: Spray hair before rolling instead/as well, otherwise curls fall out a bit quick.

becthetinsel.........you have just terrified my daughter into what she gonna look like.....she's not amused!!!!!!!

twinklylight....already in process of doing it. we have moused the hair, will that be enough or should I spray well too at the end???

OP posts:
Becthetinselneck · 15/12/2007 20:28

Ah well more hair in each section and not too tightly wrapped = looser curls!

I would spray with water before and when done. Mousse could make it go a bit crispy. When you take them out in the morn, run fingers through to loosen and a bit of hairspray should hold them. Don't take them out too far in advance in case they drop out quick.

Becthetinselneck · 15/12/2007 20:30

Sorry, damp before rolling should do it. Damping again after might make it too wet and still damp in morn.

Typing one-handed sorry.

ChristmasSendsMePsycho · 15/12/2007 20:32

panto kicks off at 2.30.

they got a tech rehearsal tho at 10am, so am guessing they will check her hair then to see whet it is like, and if truly scary maybe they will straighten and then curl with tongs.....or hope that the tightness will drop a little.

if poss will post pics tomoorow......not sure she'll let me tho is it is 'freaky' (her words)

ok, thanks ladies

hair is up and ragged. some went in ok, some worry me a little, but tis done and we will see.

hopefully................she will be ok and not frighten by how she will look. I am thinking that one side of her hair will look fab, the other less so. I think we'll certainly tell where about I started working out the different ways and found the one to suit my hands!

roll on tomorrow......and if you hear screaming then that will be her seeing and terrified.

and before anyone says....well, it is for a character......she is 13 and to hell with that if she thinks her hair is wrong!

OP posts:
ChristmasSendsMePsycho · 16/12/2007 12:43

well.....have dropped her off at the theatre still in rags. she is appalled at how odd she looks in front of her friends, altho they all thought it 'very cool'.

I did attempt to take out a couple to see the results, and she was horrified at how tight the curls were......not helped by the fact that I had over knotted them and was muttering about needing scissors...[sly grinning face].......she thought I was just going to cut out rags AND hair.....as if I would be so mean.

anyhoo........her best friends mum who is the 'runner' this year (normally MY job!!), took over the taking out of rags, and told me (ever so politely) to pee off. me thinks I was stressing out my daughter....she was certainly near tears.

apparently tho she is looking good and is calmer. thank goodness her best friend has extraordinarily curly hair and her mum is very good at handling it. helped enormously today seeing as I did them rather too well. did tell the dance teacher tho where I got my advice.

sadly I have no piccies as yet.....DD1 would not allow photos earlier, and then I was 'sent away' before I could see any more. If I am able to later tho will get after-show one.

thankyou all......wonderful lot
