Hiya I'm hoping someone might be able to advise if there's anyone out there that does this for a living .

I had 1 ml about 1 month & 2 weeks ago , pleased with it as had no top lip really before - but I have two new creases / folds on my top lip that have appeared- I'm seeing her again in two weeks and she said it will settle but I'm not sure what's caused it or what the solution is - I'm booked to have more filler with her . She is a qualified nurse who has done this on the side for 6+ years , fully certified etc and uses juevederm . Will have a go at uploading a pic , and advise much appreciated x

1ml is actually a lot of filler! They are just advertised like that because syringes are all 1ml. Here is a video on it that I found really helped xxx
he's a doctor who explains this in more detail xx

cloudtree · 24/11/2021 15:15

If it’s still doing that 6 weeks after injection then they’re overfilled. You can either have some removed or just wait for it to eventually disappear.

That's really interesting video

You just need to give it time to settle down, I got a couple of creases and they have gone now

sal1223 · 24/11/2021 15:28

Yes good video , although I'm still torn about more as I'd like them to look like the last pic 😵‍💫

Sorry not the answer you’re looking for but this is the very reason why it’s a bad idea to inject stuff into your skin. It will always look fake, and always has the potential to go wrong. Please don’t have any more. I am sure your natural lips are absolutely fine.

FreeBritnee · 24/11/2021 15:58

I assume you’ve showed her the pictures. What does she say?

sal1223 · 24/11/2021 16:21

Yes she's calling later and said they will settle . I don't care if they look fake this wasn't for anyone else it just was for me as I've been unhappy for as long as I can remember with my natural lips

They were done six weeks ago though. They’ll have settled by now if they’re going to settle.

I only have 0.5ml every 12 months and I did get slight creasing once. It settled within a couple of weeks.

MintyGreenDream · 24/11/2021 16:33

They aren't supposed to look like that,I get mine done and that's never happened.

MintyGreenDream · 24/11/2021 16:35

These are mine one month after 1ml.id go to a proper aesthetic practitioner rather than a nurse tbh.

Summertime16 · 24/11/2021 16:41

depending on your nature lip shape, skin texture etc you may not get the lips you desire. Adding more filler will not help this, a good practitioner should have advised you of this before injecting. Also having more than 1 ml in 6 months is not advised.

Delatron · 24/11/2021 17:20

Do we not think it might be the Botox that is the problem? Filler would have settled down by now.
Never heard of Botox above the lip? Sides of mouth maybe

cloudtree · 24/11/2021 17:43

I have Botox above the lip but it’s because I have a severely uneven lip line. It’s to correct that. Was yours for lines OP? You might have been better advised to get fillers if so.

ZealAndArdour · 24/11/2021 19:55

What do you actually mean by “a proper aesthetic practitioner, rather than a nurse” though?

Any old beauty therapist or eyebrow lady is calling themselves an “aesthetic practitioner” and shoving god knows what into peoples faces these days.

A doctor, nurse or dentist are far more likely to actually have an masters in aesthetics than any of these other unqualified charlatans masquerading as “aesthetics practitioners” these days.

The fact that the OP got these done by a nurse is the most reassuring part about it. The next most qualified person after that is a plastic surgeon, but you’ll pay handsomely for it.

DocMarteens · 24/11/2021 20:59

these lines are caused by volume ++ in the top lip - in your case this looks like swelling. Juvederm can setlle with a puffy result. The nurse will support the creases with dermal filler in those areas only to smooth ther area. Then as the Juvederm breaks down this will become less of an issue. I'd recommend you get a healthcare professional in cosmetic medicine to use RHA Kiss next time, is a "crisper" result in the lips.

CarrotSticks19 · 24/11/2021 21:00

I think it's possibly the botox, the muscle surrounding the upper lip relaxes, pushing it out, and sometimes other muscles of facial expression can compensate. And that's created these lines when combined with the filler

FunnyCradock · 24/11/2021 23:15

@sal1223 sometimes filling the lips can encourage & highlight a weakness at the oral commissures (at the corners of the lips) and this creates a shadow or crease exactly as you have shown. A tell-tale sign is if you gently push the edge of the lip in towards the centre of your face you get a crease (exactly as in your photo where you are pushing inwards). Without seeing you in person I can’t be 100% sure, but that is what it looks like to me from your photos.

A tiny bit of filler in the oral commissures will provide scaffolding to reinforce this weakness & it will disappear.

I’m a nurse also trained in aesthetics & I’ve just done a lip masterclass course with Skin Viva (Dr Tim Pearce - v popular aesthetics doctor) and this was covered. I have also experienced this myself after having just under 1ml in my lips.

Hopefully your practitioner will also be aware of this & can look at this as a possibility during your review.

PrawnStars · 24/11/2021 23:22

Is she a doctor, nurse or dentist? Those are the only people who should be injecting

If she is none of the above, this is your answer. Never see someone who doesn't have a medical qualification

FunnyCradock · 24/11/2021 23:28

I’d also possibly put 0.05ml in each philtrum (as a retrograde linear thread) to give a slightly improved aesthetic appearance. This would integrate the lips into the face a bit better. A slightly curved philtrum is a sign of youth (the philtrum gets longer and flatter as we age) and will make your plumper lips look as though they belong to your face. Again, Dr Tim Pearce incorporates this into many of his lip filler clients (his work is great…loads of stuff on YouTube if you want to make sure his advice is kosher!)

sal1223 · 24/11/2021 23:53

@PrawnStars yes as stated previously she's a fully qualified nurse trained in aesthetics like @FunnyCradock - funny thanks for your replies , I've spoken to her tonight and feel reassured that everything's ok after she explained and seeing her ina couple of weeks .

sal1223 · 24/11/2021 23:58

See tonight they look much better - I don't think it helped it was first thing in the morning after a bad night . Where I'm pointing in the photo sort of in under the edges is where I may have a tiny bit more like u say @FunnyCradock to support the sides . Bearing in mind my top lip was so thin before I think she's done a good job

Lip filler help please - had 1ml
