Just that! I don't wear it frequently, but when I want to, now I wear specs full time, I can't get to my eyes...but I can't see what I'm doing without them Sad

There must be something I'm missing, yes?

You get special glasses that you can flip the single lense from one eye to the other. If you Google make up glasses you will find them.

paddingtonbearsmarmalade · 24/11/2021 09:54

I just go really close to the mirror 😬 (but I am shortsighted, I imagine if you’re long sighted that won’t help!)

Are these for long-sighted people? (@paddingtonbearsmarmalade has correctly guessed I'm long-sighted)

Yes, just like reading glasses but with one flip able lens, you get them in different strengths.

CovidPassQuestion · 24/11/2021 10:00

Ok, have googled, but does anyone have a recommendation for stronger lenses? I need +5.0 I think

I’ve gone from 20:20 vision to strong varifocals in three years. I use a large magnifying mirror - you can get them from John Lewis.

CovidPassQuestion · 24/11/2021 10:11

We have a magnifying mirror... and it really doesn't help- probably would if I was short sighted? When I look in it without my specs, I just see a big blank moon shape !

Yikes, I'm not actually particularly fat or anything, fairly small face if anything.

You could try a +4 set and see if they help? It may be possible to reglaze them with a stronger lens but imagine that depends how the lenses are held in. There are some on ebay for around £5 so maybe worth a shot.

CovidPassQuestion · 24/11/2021 10:58

Thanks, will try +4 and see... Got to be better than randomly stabbing at my eyes with an eye shadow brush Blush

I am long and short-sighted (mainly short) and can only wear it when I wear contact lenses now.

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 24/11/2021 11:03

Otherwise I have to hold the mirror so close to my face there's no room for my hand

flashpaper · 24/11/2021 11:26

Contact lenses. I have to get so close to the mirror that I can't fit my brushes in between.

PleaseCanWePutAGrownUpInCharge · 24/11/2021 11:29

I've started getting my eyelashes tinted so that I don't need to wrestle with putting on mascara any more.

TollgateDebs · 24/11/2021 13:42

Very short sighted - I do what I can with the glasses on (you can always clean them) and for the eyes, very close to a wall mirror!

TheCreamCaker · 24/11/2021 14:42

I use a shaving mirror (magnified) to do my make-up, then when I've finished, I put my specs on and look into an ordinary mirror

Defiantly41 · 24/11/2021 17:21

Tweezerman x 15 magnification mirror. It has suction thingys so you can stick it to a window/ big mirror for the best light.

conceptionisdraining · 24/11/2021 21:36

🤣 this post made me laugh because I have exactly same problem OP. So I use a mirror that is three inches from my face now.

But I'm watching this thread with curiosity for other better suggestions!

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 24/11/2021 21:39

Yes, light up magnifying mirror. I use the ridiculously priced ‘Simple Human’ one. I’ve had it for about 7 years now and wouldn’t be without it.

hilariousnamehere · 24/11/2021 21:43

I wish I had a sensible solution for you! I'm -10 and -8.5 short sighted but during my commuting to London years I learned to do my makeup on the train without a mirror. It's the only useful thing I learned from that job 😂

If you keep cotton buds and decent makeup remover near where you put makeup on, you can erase any mascara and eyeliner dodgy bits once your glasses are back in place.

Otherwise, contacts!
