Dry dehydrated skin

Looking for some recommendations for a serum to help with my dry, dehydrated, sensitive skin. Combination of central heating, hormones and stress has led to my face becoming really dry and sensitive. I have a range of good moisturisers but looking for a serum to give me some extra hydration.

Maybe buffet from the ordinary? It’s targeted more at aging but I find it hydrating. Dr jart has a ceramide serum too. I’d also consider adding a rose hip oil or similar? Mine is from the inky list as it was a small bottle and cheap enough to have a try and I really like it. I know you said you have good moisturisers but I would highly recommend cosrx comfort ceramide cream if you fancy adding another.

This is amazing! www.lookfantastic.com/la-roche-posay-hyalu-b5-hyaluronic-acid-serum-for-dehydrated-skin-30ml/11638522.html (currently on offer)

This is a little cheaper www.boots.com/vichy-mineral-89-50ml-10237663 I don't think it is as good as LRP but a good substitute.

This is a good serum www.boots.com/dr-jart-ceramidin-serum-10292007

I have dry dehydrated skin, especially around my eyes, at the moment (past 4 months) I've been using Nuxe reve de miel (ultra comforting face balm) and Nuxe creme prodigieuse boost (eye balm gel) and my skin has never been so soft and supple. I've also been adding a few drops of Clarins blue orchid oil to the mix of an evening and I'm really pleased with my skin right now. I personally find that for my skin less is more, I don't use loads of different products, I cleanse and moisturise, the more products the more chance of a reaction ime.

BusterGonad · 24/11/2021 12:11

Sorry, I've not answered your op at all! 😂 I'll say use the Clarins blue orchid oil in place of a serum.

I think any serum with hyaluronic acid is going to be good, depending on your budget. I'm using a Neutrogena one (and a neutropenia night moisturiser) which I find excellent but there are probably even better ones out there at a higher price.

Triffid1 · 24/11/2021 12:17

Oh, and my dehydrated and dry skin has been a lot better since I started using an oil cleanser. I just use almond oil as it's always worked for me but you can buy ones that are more complex.

Thanks all. Popped into a small Boots on my way home and managed to get some LRP hyaluronic B5 serum and a rosehip oil. And have ordered an oil cleanser (the superfacialist vit c one, which I've used before but had forgotten about. Love the smell!). Was trying to use up lots of cleanser sample I had but most of them are for oily skim, or more clarifying so think I just need to bin them and be a bit more gentle!

You could try a hydrating overnight face mask? Normal PM skincare routine, then sleep mask on top. Wash off in the morning. Thin layer applied at least an hour before bed to give it plenty of time to sink in.

Something like this...?

Might check out the superfaciist vitamin c oil cleanser. I love my bog standard almond oil but am a big believer in Vitamin C so quite like the idea of doing the two together.
