Has anyone’s hair loss actually improved?

Sorry, I know there are lots of threads about this. I have lost about half my hair, possibly more over the last few years. It got a bit better in pregnancy, but now baby is 2 is worse than ever so I don’t think post partum anymore.

I take iron, I started drinking collagen powder 2 months ago and have just purchased some high dose biotin tablets. I stopped using heat styling, switched to all natural shampoos, but no noticeable improvement.

Has anyone actually had any improvement, and what do you think helped? Or should I go hat shopping?

Yes mine has grown back slowly.
I lost my hair at the front due to starting a particular epilepsy medication in 2011.
It was awful.
I've also been anaemic since then which probably hasn't helped. I was prescribed ferrous sulphate tablets when I was very anaemic but if you are only a bit short on iron you don't get a prescription.
I had stopped that particular epilepsy medication by 2012 and it started growing back extremely slowly over the last few years.

But about 18 months ago I decided to try Perfectil Hair capsules.
I also decided to boost my iron levels with Holland & Barrett Gentle Iron 20mg capsules.
I'm 45 now; and me & my hairdresser feel that my hair is very much improved in thickness at the front as a result as well as all over really.

My skin is also oilier & my nails nicer since starting the vitamins.

Thank you for responding. I’m glad your hair is getting better now-it’s so distressing when it goes isn’t it.

Hopefully with some nutritional/supplement changes mine will too-I considered perfectil but I’m still breastfeeding and it’s not recommended-I will likely switch once I stop though

Yes when I stopped colouring it. The difference is very noticeable. I also rarely use a hair dryer now

Yes but it was almost like a full time job with the supplements and the hair oils etc
Supplements Collagen, Vit D, MSM, High dose Biotin, Iron, JS Hair & Energy, Vit C to wash them all down with.
Get your ferritin levels checked, it needs to be over 70 to stop loss and 120 for growth but anything over 10 comes back as "normal" on a blood test.
Scalp massager, tea rinsing to stop hair loss in the shower. These masks a few times a week
It really worked, I still take the supplements but have become majorly lazy in terms of the masks, shampoos so this is a reminder to up my game again !

That’s interesting workshy44. Which hair oils did you use? And how do I do a tea rinse?

Mine did when I started taking thyroxine as it had gone quite thin.

I think so. I went through a period when I lost incredible amounts of hair - it was like a Labrador moulting - I chopped it from bra-strap-long to a bob, and then I cropped it very short indeed in an attempt to disguise how thin it had become. Five years later over lockdown I regrew it. Honestly: I don’t think it’s quite as thick as it once was - but it’s been five years since I hacked it all off and actually I’m very happy with what I’ve got (left), even if it’s not as thick as it was in my twenties.

Mine hasn't improved with iron and Regaine (although I am patchy at remembering to use it). I've been told mine's female pattern baldness though, so it's just going to get worse. I keep my hair at bob length and wear a lot of hats.
