I am doing up the spare room in the new year for DD (aged 2). I am looking for some stylish furniture, mostly for storing toys and a chest of drawers for her clothes as well as curtains, duvet covers, etc. DC2 is due in April so I want to go for something neutral as I dont know of its a boy or girl. I quite like the bright primary colours.

I love the IKEA range for children and they have a delivery service in most areas for a charge.Have a look its lovely bright stuff and the neutral stuff is lovely.HTH.

would second ikea kids.
is really reasonably priced (esp compared to almost all other furniture places) which means you can get stuff a bit more age specific... and it wont kill you to change it later when theyve grown out of it. the extendable beds are great... grow with the child and you wont want another till they are teenagers at least.
they also have lots of fun accessories to brighten the place up.

I think my whole house is furnished from ikea!

francagoestohollywood · 15/12/2007 17:45

IKEA is great for children furniture/storage and great, colorful bed linen as well. I'd also try and find an old chest of drawers and paint it in some bright colour (I love orange, I've been meaning to do it for ages...). If you have lots of money to spend you can look at designer's guild for fabrics....

trofast for storage, I love it!

i noticed some really lovely fabrics for kids in johnlewis the other day too... v similar to my kids' curtains but better quality and nicer if anything...and no doubt a fraction of the price (paid poncy designer prices derrrrr)

francagoestohollywood · 15/12/2007 17:54

also I wouldn't underestimate laura ashley, I bought a lovely stripy fabric (though I don't think it's still available) which was 30% off, and mil made curtains for dd's bedroom. It is really lovely and not too girly.

(goes on john lewis website)

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 15/12/2007 18:01

no fabrics on the website [poo]

francagoestohollywood · 15/12/2007 18:22

yes, I'm quite disappointed. I've been quite obsessed by fabrics lately.

NappiesGaloriaInExcelsis · 15/12/2007 18:27

it gets like that doesnt it? i was very immersed in it all when we were doing the house.

micegg · 27/12/2007 19:56

Thanks everyone. I am off to check out the ikea website. I cant shop in ikea - Just spend way too much money.

I don't like Ikea stuff myself, quite flimsy. We used to buy there, but now buy from a local furniture shop. Bit more expensive but much better quality.

hello.
for bedding, tk maxx have the most gorge stuff for kids...its not cheap, but is really to die for!

dunelm do a nice cheap range of duvet covers and everything that goes with it.

i got my ds bedroom furnature from magnet...it was not too badly priced, and lovely quality.
