Anyone bought a decent bra recently?

Have lost quite a bit of weight and annoyingly once pretty full boobs now fairly depleted - think slightly deflated balloons. I need to go and get measured and want a bra that is comfy but gives me back some life and shape and a decent cleavage - any brands anyone would recommend?

I buy all mine from M&S. But rather than going somewhere to get measured, I would use the boob or bust method. I did it last year and my size was so different to what I’d been measured in stores. Bras now fit properly and are so much comfier

Notquitemanaging · 20/11/2021 18:25

That looks amazing!! Thanks so much!

I adore Prima Donna. Really good support and I find them comfy.

ChristmasTreeBee · 20/11/2021 19:00

I really rate Sainsburys bras (can’t afford much else at the moment)

I measured myself with the method above.

Liverbird77 · 20/11/2021 19:03

Yes, Sainsbury's and Tesco for the price are amazing

ThreeB · 20/11/2021 19:05

It's Ann Summers all the way for me. Great fitting experience every single time and a great choice in styles and colours

RampantIvy · 20/11/2021 19:10

Yes!
I went to our local independent (and brilliant) bra shop in a small market town yesterday and was gobsmacked to find that I should be wearing a 32D, not 32B.

I spent a lot of £££ on 3 bras, but they fit beautifully, give me curves I didn't think I had and are really pretty.

Stevie77 · 20/11/2021 19:23

Follow the boob and bust instructions and go to a John Lewis, they have a range of brands and types of bras. You may need to try a few sizes so could be worth booking an appointment. They fitted me with two great bras after spending the last 18 months in bralettes.

bookish83 · 20/11/2021 19:34

John Lewis Fantasie and a Freya bra

M&S and Sainsburys were shocking on me, but the Fantasie bra has a side support panel which has been life changing. No more painful underwire

M&S size was way off. Sainsburys bra fit ok but very scratchy lace.

I'd rather one or two that fit well than own more now

NotMyCat · 20/11/2021 19:35

It really depends on what fits you - my fave are elomi but that's because they fit so perfectly!
Look for a balcony bra or plunge for lift and try on loads

Notquitemanaging · 20/11/2021 19:40

Thanks gang- am on it for next week! Xxx

I recently went to the same independent lingerie store (I “know” @RampantIvy of old on here, and we share a local town) and was re-fitted as 34ff from a 36E. The Freya bras I bought were not cheap, but are amazingly supportive, comfortable and shapely).
silentpool · 20/11/2021 19:46

Panache and Simone Perele. The Simone Perele ones are particularly nice (no scratchy lace) but I go to the outlet store for those because they are expensive normally.

RampantIvy · 20/11/2021 19:55

Do you use the "soak" to clean your bras @IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads?

godwingolly · 20/11/2021 19:58

I found a properly fitting, wired plunge bra to be best to restore shape. Like others use the stated method for measuring. Then I can buy any brand.

FinallyHere · 20/11/2021 20:00

Everyone is different is ever more relevant when buying a bra. It matters to have a good range of sizes from which to choose and a trained fitter to adjust it to you so that it fits perfectly.

Only https://www.rigbyandpeller.com do all that for me. In my early twenties I was saving up for a breast reduction. I read an article by June Kenton, the founder, saying that she wished people would try s proper fitting to see how much the right bra would help.

I've been going ever since.

My first visit, I was wearing a puffed type jacket and still, the first bra I tried on pretty perfect. I tried on loads more because I'd come so far.

That first bra was the right one of me. Not a tape measure in sight. All the straps adjusted and a quick guide to how to put them on. Bliss.

VanillaAndOrange · 20/11/2021 20:00

I can't afford expensive bras, but I like George (Asda) for normal bras and Tu (Sainsburys) for sports bras.

NotMyCat · 20/11/2021 20:02

@RampantIvy soak is lovely if pricey! I alternate between that and hand washing with something gentle, I'm using up a dove baby body wash at the minute

LizzieSiddal · 20/11/2021 20:04

I have similar “deflated balloons” after years of breast feeding. I find I need a good balcony bra which lifts everything up.
I’ve found Panache and Fantasie excellent for doing this.

DGFB · 20/11/2021 20:06

Another vote for Rigby and Peller. So expensive but the fittings are great and the bras just give you lift and shape (I have sagging boobs after three kids and they look perky in R&P bras)

Isabelle70 · 20/11/2021 20:16

I have done the Boob or Bust measuring method and it does work. I also now swoop and scoop which I have never done before and makes a difference to the underarm boob!
I like the Panache Jasmine or the Envy. The Envy is really popular in the BoB Facebook group

bookish83 · 20/11/2021 20:25

Yes I forgot to add a balcony bra. Having spent my life in tshirt bras I found I needed a totally different style bra after breastfeeding and shape changes

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 20/11/2021 20:55

@RampantIvy

Do you use the "soak" to clean your bras *@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads*?
Oooh now, she didn’t sell me that! We got distracted by talking about starter bras and period pants. But I have hand washed my bras in delicates detergent for years.

(I have recently name changed btw).

teawamutu · 20/11/2021 20:59

Freya Deco gives me amazing lift and shape - haven't worn anything else for years.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/11/2021 21:01

I always wear a Freya Deco
