Didn't know I was having it till i got there, was going for a normal one. I knew they did them so I asked the therapist about the differences and she told me, said I'd love to have one but am a bit embarrassed.

so she said well I'll start and we'll see how we get on, next thing it was done.

Fab therapist, lots of humour especially as the last woman to get that intimate with me was giving me a smear test

DH is on his Christmas night out and has no idea

told me to treat it as if I'm sunburnt ... she was right on that one

I feel sick....

paulaplumpbottom · 14/12/2007 19:51

Try the hollywood next

elfsmum · 14/12/2007 19:54

PPB don't know if I can be that brave, quite like the "tash" that's been left

paulaplumpbottom · 14/12/2007 19:55

I didn't think I would like it either but now I'd never go back

elfsmum · 14/12/2007 19:58

practical question PPB, feeling a little sore, she said to put some antiseptic on for the first 24 hours, does it disappear after that ?

bamzooki · 14/12/2007 20:07

Er - rather naive about this - what is the difference exactly? Between brazilian and hollywood I mean.

And just how much pain did it involve?!!

paulaplumpbottom · 14/12/2007 20:08

Yes, I found witchhazel helped a bit to. It won't hurt as much after next time

expatinscotland · 14/12/2007 20:10

Congrats! You'll never go back to Yetti-ness again.

I second the witch hazel suggestion.

elfsmum · 14/12/2007 20:10

brazilian is everything off underneath, leaving just a patch of your desired shape at the top.

hollywood is everything off

after 2 CS's when I do mine it normally looks like my belly has a goatee, today think oliver hardy tash !

pain wasn't really an issue, no worse than a normal bikini wax

have to say do feel amazingly clean

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 14/12/2007 20:10

And yes, it won't hurt as much subsequent times.

Well worth it, IMO.

elfsmum · 14/12/2007 20:12

Can't praise my therapist enough it has to be said - she was FAB

so matter of fact, she'd given me disposable knickers, and by the end they'd been pulled down whilst she made sure everything was even, honestly you'd have thought she was doing my eyebrows

can you imagine if DH tries to get fruity tonight after his night out, I went out like teenwolf this morning

OP posts:
paulaplumpbottom · 14/12/2007 20:15

Thats all it is to them.

expatinscotland · 14/12/2007 20:17

they gave you paper knickers?!

really?

i've been having Brazilians back when you had to find someone Brazilian to do it.

never had any knickers because erm, well, that's sort of pointless when you're in there to have one of those.

but a good waxer is worth her weight in gold, i'm telling you!

stick with her!

expatinscotland · 14/12/2007 20:18

Exactly, PPB!

I mean, they're professionals just doing their job, just like a nurse giving a smear test or a doctor performing an exam.

Just soak a small towel in cool water first and then splash with witch hazel, give it a ring out and use it as needed.

Or cotton wool soaked in witch hazel.

Blondilocks · 14/12/2007 21:53

What are you putting on it?

I had a hollywood yesterday ... think the most painful bit was the bit the brazillian left on.

Did the left side hurt more?

elfsmum · 15/12/2007 11:04

therapist said put some anitseptic cream in the fridge and apply liberally for the next 24 hours

and yes the left side does hurt more !

has calmed down a lot this morning

have a C/S scar that was waxed for the first time that still looks a bit annoyed

OP posts:
Blondilocks · 15/12/2007 21:49

I found that whole left side thing strange, was glad that was done second else I may have said stop now & looked silly!

Are you going to have it done again?

Is antiseptic cream something like savlon? Didn't have any of that so was putting aloe vera stuff on.

Someone recommended Tend Skin which the salon had on their website, rang up about it today & they were going to phone back & now it's not on their website anymore!

elfsmum · 16/12/2007 12:10

yes will definitely have it done again.

I was using germolene, that was stinging/burning when I was putting it on, so I picked up some witch hazel yesterday and applied with cotton wool (thanks expat and paula) and that worked wonders, really cooling and it didn't burn.

not at all sore today, feel extremely clean.

yes Expat she did give me disposable knickers, think that was more for me, at the end i did say to her I'd have been better off not wearing them, as they did nothing, and she'd seen everything anyway !

Dh still laughs his sodden head off at me "accidentally" getting a hollywood when we were in holiday in Toronto . Generally I just go for a full leg and bikini but was feeling brave as being abroad and asked her about an "almost brazilian" .
Next thing I am stark naked and its all systems go (was even at one point requested to be on all fours !) Was too embarrassed to ask anything as didnt want to appear a hick out of towner but OMG midwife who delivered DD saw less of me. Anyway job ALL done, I stumble back to the mall to meet DH and my Canadian friend who are taken aback to see me whitefaced and clearly stunned ! Down a drink in a nearby bar and then fess up to much hilarity of these horrible 2 who I consider my nearest and dearest.
Canadian friend then apologises "sorry I forgot the ladies in that salon are Thai origin - very skilled but dont do half measures where they come from " . Maybe Im a prude but never again - and TBH still not convinced someone didn`t set me up !!
