Hypoallergenic nail polish

I know this is a weird one but I'm allergic to lots of things including fragrance and nail varnish (I think) Does anyone know of any that won't make me itch. Fully stick on nails don't suit but not sure about stickers. Would love to have them done professionally but always end up scratching like a mofo

It’s all made of acrylic so there isn’t one if it’s the acrylic your reacting to.

Have you tried the nail vinyl things?

It’s like a sticker that you give a blast with a hair dryer to warm up and it like shrink wraps to your nails and you just file off the over hang.

They are so easy and look great.
Ive bought them on Amazon previously.

Have a look at green flash. Much more natural and I haven’t had a reaction to the gels.

Try brands that are 3 or 5 free. I'm allergic to one of the chemicals in most nail polishes and I use Revlon, Chanel, Dior, Mavala, Kure Bazaar, newer Nails Inc, &otherstories own brand.

Thank you. Will investigate. Unfortunately I don know which ingredient/s annoy me but worth a try.

The usual culprit is formaldehyde. The 3 free and 5 free brands generally don't have this in. There may be other substances that still irritate, but worth a try.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/11/2021 14:14

Formaldehydes a gas. It’s most likely to be the acrylic as it’s highly allergenic and easy to leave on skin uncured.

They should have refused to put a nail coating on if you’ve had a reaction.

Mufflette · 17/11/2021 16:14

If it's normal polish rather than gels then it could be formaldehyde resin, that's what I'm allergic to. I presume it's related to the gas in some way!

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 17/11/2021 16:49

Yes, I meant formaldehyde resin. I can't be 100% certain that is what I'm allergic to, but from my research, it seems that is the most common culprit.

Wowwowwowwowwow · 19/11/2021 08:48

Oh I struggle with formaldehyde when it's used to package bedding etc. (I know that sounds weird but my mammy buys loads and I always have to wash it first Grin)

If it is that then the thing to look for in ingredients is tosylamide formaldehyde resin. Some brands don't have it at all, some don't have it in newer formulas (e.g. some OPI is fine but older ones seem to have loads in).
