What brands should I look at please? Just the basics at the moment so a nice cleanser and do they really need moisturiser at 13?

Thanks!

My eldest DD didn’t really bother at that age - and still doesn’t at 16! But my DD14 watches lots of tiktok/Instagram stuff and came across Cerave, which she now uses. They do cleansers/lotions/moisturisers, good for sensitive skin apparently (she has eczema). It’s not cheap - it’s on her Christmas gift list!- but Boots and Superdrug often have deals (Superdrug does at the moment).

As I said, my older DD doesn’t bother with moisturiser but my younger DD does due to her eczema- she’s been applying cream for as long as she can remember. So I wouldn’t say your daughter will necessarily need it (and become a slave to it for evermore!!).

Both DDs like micellar water though (for removing eye makeup).

I would just go with some of the Simple (or equivalent) products and see how she gets on.

Simple is a nice mild brand.
Clarins has also started a younger range -My Clarins - which is nice if you want to spend a bit more. My DD likes that. She does like a moisturiser, but keeps it light
You could also look at Spots and Stripes.

Cerave and La Roche Posay are popular with my kids

Simple and cerave are good ones. Mario badescu is also good but is a bit more complicated but I know young people like it.

La Roche Posay, relatively pricey but really good.

Not sure if it's still around but Elizabeth's Daughter.

Glossier. Really nice gentle products (I use them), great for teens too, and fun branding so she'll feel she's getting something cool. They have a pack of cleanser, balm and moisturiser which I think is suitable for all skin types. They do fancier stuff too like serums but that's more for older customers I think.

They do subtle makeup too which I've fallen in love with.
