Tall, slender girls clothes

Not sure if this is the right board, but here goes.

I am looking for clothes for my daughter. She's only 5, but she is very tall. In order to get tops that are long enough I have to buy 7-8 or even 8-9 sized clothes.

The problem then is that she is quite skinny but also she has narrow shoulders. So the clothes that are long enough hang like sacks on her, necklines fall off her shoulders and trousers / skirts just drop off her.

Does anyone know of any clothing brands that are cut long but thin?

Following for ideas. Particularly leggings and school skirts. Clothes seem to get wider but not much longer!

H&m leggings fit my girl as do next. We tried jeggings from h&m and they won't stay up. We stick with leggings!

I find French brands are more suitable for tall and slender kids. I buy a lot of Petit Bateau and Catimini for mine; like you I have to size up as the clothes come quite petite but the overall proportions fit better.

I've just bought her some tops from Next (7-8) and they just cover the waistband if her leggings!

Tops we wear dresses. My daughter also has that problem. T shirts aren't long enough. Peplum tops are good.

H & M definitely.

I bought a sewing machine to sew the waistbands tighter for all clothes. My son has the same problem. He's 3 and in 5-6 length but his waist is tiny.
My daughter like yours OP is just turned 6 but wears 9 year old height wise.

I sew all her waists as well and the machine makes it neater.

H&M

We have the same problem, and have found that Scandi brands are good for this. We mainly buy H&M and the odd thing from Polarn o Pyret. As others have said, H&M is especially good for long leggings!

Agree with the PP who suggested French brands - we use Petit Bateau and Cyrillus. The brand "NAME IT" do very long skinny trousers.

Unfortunately I havent found anywhere on the high street which is very good but I've heard Tu from Sainsburys come up skinny.

Avoid M&S, Boden and Gap which are cut more generously

H&M, Polarn o Pyret, sometimes Boden. Zara and Vertbaudet possibly, but they tend to be on the short side.

But the problem at the moment is oversized is the fashion and everything is cut wide and short.

You might have more success in a charity shop or eBay. I get most of my Dc clothes second hand for just this reason.

My now 5'11 DD (and still growing) wore cotton summer dresses as T shirts in winter, and everything with leggings under. Still does!

Next used to do longer tops, and H&M leggings. Primark for jeans. Jumpers and hoodies mostly boys styles as seemed to be longer, and always baggy. Swimsuits and dresses with knots in the shoulders to raise the neckline, and often with the sides taken in too.

Re French brands - Capitaine Tortue trousers were brilliant for my long thin DS, but we never had any of their girls clothes.
