What tights are we all meant to be wearing? Is it opaque? Anyone got any links?

Got a black dress just above the knee. Need to make it look more fashionable for a night out, not sure if I dare do coloured tights but would black opaque be ok? With black patent heels? Would have to have some green jewelery or something to brighten it up too I think?

dark purple, navy or very dark grey? seems a shame to do entirely black. how about these and support too.

kidsrusanta · 13/12/2007 22:39

i wouldn't wear tights or skirts for years now i love the latest fashion tights with zig-zags,squares,lace,diamonds etc.
got some in lidl
this week and they are lovely.
its so nice to have something a bit different.

ggirlsbells · 13/12/2007 22:55

these are nice

fishie · 13/12/2007 22:58

wow i have just revisited that link and they are a bit expensive. that site is generally good though.

m&s have some very good ones and also you might be better in brown (warm) rather than the blue or grey (cool). but i stand by my non-black advice. m&s also have lovely silver or gold tights but it might be too much contrast with black shoes and dress and green jewellery.

mine spendy not ggs.

i ordered those red ones and sent them back unopened. they are relaly bright, would look like an accident had occured.

TenLordsaLapin · 13/12/2007 23:01

I have been swanning around in some bright purple opaques from M&S with a dark grey dress - looks fab. Go for it!

If you are going out, I wouldn't wear opaques, go sheer, and don't wear black, it's too harsh. Nearly black are better, or M&S used to do a range of skintone colours, there was a very deep brown one, that was incredibly flattering to the leg.

I have the red M&S ones and yeah they are bright, think the ending of Carrie.

FrannyandZooey · 14/12/2007 12:02

topshop teal ones would look fab with a black dress

pantoinghousewife · 14/12/2007 12:05

Teal or plum wool ones are great, they're my favorite thing. Have to be wool for my though.

Wow only just seen all the responses, thanks, my legs aren't TOO bad but am not sure I'm brave enough for coloured tights. Was also thinking I may feel a bit too dreary in head to toe black though... Topshop do teal ones you say? Will pop in and get some tomorrow in that case and some black in case I get scared lol! So opaque is the thick slightly shiny ones?
