Boob job after weight loss

I'm thinking of having a boob job after weight loss/breastfeeding and would really like to hear others' views and experiences.

I always had huge boobs pre kids and since then they've shrunk, a lot, so they're flat and saggy. In a bra they look ok and the size is fine (I'm a size 8 and a 30DD) but without a bra they look absolutely awful as it's all "empty" skin iyswim. I'm also very uncomfortable without a bra, and I need to sleep in one to be able to lie down comfortably.

Has anyone had surgery in similar circumstances and what did you go for? Thanks in advance

HI I did, after an 11 stone weight loss. My breast tissue was just hanging onto my stomach area and I was getting repeated sweat rashes and infections.

I went to see three different surgeons and they all said basically the same thing, that the easiest fix and best aesthetically would be to use an implant to restore fullness and then lift the breast using an incision which would involve repositioning the nipple.

They all also said that fat transfer to the breast wouldn't give me the look of fullness long term as it tends to wear off quite quickly.

I was apparently a very unusual patient in that I was absolutely adamant that I didn't want implants under any circumstances, which reduced my options considerably. It left me with the option of a lift only, which meant the size of my breast would be determined by how much actual breast tissue there was left in there under the skin.

I'd had big breasts even when young, and the thought of having neat, smallish perky breasts sounded pretty good to me. I am also pretty serious about running and having small boobs would not be a hindrance there so I went for an augmentation without implants. i knew it might not be perfect, but even if it got me 80% there I would be happy.

It worked out a lot better than I could have hoped. I have nice, normal looking boobs, you now can't see any scars, and I didn't lose any feeling in the nipples despite them being moved. I actually really like them. I also had more breast tissue than I thought under all that skin, i'm a 34C in a bra.

My surgeon described it as being 'kate moss san tropez 1996 but a cup sized bigger' and thinks its a shame I didn't go for implants, I don't fit the current aesthetic, it seems, which is about a 34DD with some lipo for a smaller waist thrown in, but I wasn't after a Kardashian thing, I wanted to feel normal iyswim, so I'm very happy

My advice would be to be very sure about what you actually want, rat

sorry pressed post too soon!
be sure of what you want rather what the surgeon wants!

I had a mastopexy, well worth it.
Not very painful. Excellent results, minimal scars.

Look up surgeon Dan March . He does some amazing work on this kind of thing . Someone I know saw him .

Penguinsmum · 14/11/2021 13:05

I had an uplift and implants. With Dan Marsh. It's not perfect but much better than before.

Findingthelight1 · 14/11/2021 17:57

Thanks so much for the tips so far - I'll look up Dan March. I think my main issue is that I don't mind having small boobs, I just want them perky and non saggy... but I'm not sure how much breast tissue I actually have or what they would look like with an uplift without implants.

I lost 7 stone and had 32f spaniels ears, just had a mastoplexy and thrilled with the results, now a 32dd, happy with shape, recovery was a breeze.

My sister lost a lot of weight V quickly (thyroid issues finally treated) and had a breast reduction after because they were a little ‘deflated’ and out of proportion with her new frame. She was really pleased with the result

I'm really keen to have a lift - no implants as big boobs anyway, but nipples need to go up! Can you tell me how long recovery took and when you were able to wear normal underwear and was the scarring very noticeable around nipples?

Hi

Congrats on your weight loss. Could you please tell me more about the recovery, things like how could you manage showering, dressing etc. How long til you could drive again? Thanks.

AliBingo · 25/12/2021 14:25

Thanks. On day seven I did the supermarket shop albeit gingerly, and on day 14 or 15 I drove. Walked the dog 20 minutes on day 5. Cooked kids tea on day 6. First two days after were pretty much just bedrest but mobile thereafter. Shower I had to wait a week! Same for dressing changes, they were removed on day 7 and just micropore tape after that. I only took paracetamol and ibuprofen from day 3 and stopped after about a week or so. Generally found it fairly OK, worst bit was getting in and out of bed!

AliBingo · 25/12/2021 14:26

Oh wait though, forgot the thread context. I had brachiplasty (arms) and tummy tuck and muscle repair all in same op along with boobs, the boobs were pain free and caused no issues with mobility etc.

sammylady37 · 25/12/2021 23:10

Thanks a million for info @AliBingo. I’m hoping to have the boobs and bingo wings done in about 18 months time, still a bit of weight to lose and then I’ll need to maintain the loss for a year or so before they’ll operate.
