Wash a wool?

I've bought a sweater, 53% Acrylic, 47% Cotton. On the care label, it says to 'wash as wool' on a 40 degree cycle. Would it be OK to chuck in with a normal mixed load on a low heat or will I knacker it completely? I'm torn between loving the garment and not wanting the faff of a separate load. Thanks!

Should be ok at 40, I'd be inclined to do as the label says though.

I’d always go with the most delicate fibre content when it comes to washing, so I’d wash the sweater on cold/wool cycle. You’d probably get away with slightly hotter but if you put this sort of garment in with a mixed wash, it might shorten its lifespan and leave it a bit stretched.

Thanks - I think I'll scout around for similar bits in my wardrobe and stick them on a wool wash Smile

I once washed my DH's lambs wool sweater on a normal 40c wash and shrunk it so I'd be inclined to do as it says Grin

Definitely use the wool wash setting. The agitation is very different from a normal 40 wash and this is what makes the difference.
