Is there a magic hack to stop clothing being full of static?

I bought a beautiful jewel green faux suede a line skirt from Vinted.

I’d been looking for one for ages and finally found exactly the colour and excitedly waited for it to arrive.

I’ve tried it and it fits perfectly except it’s impossible to wear as it so full of static it just clings to my legs and won’t fall properly!

I’ve tried it without tights, with tights but it’s no different. I now know why it was being sold!

Before I bung it in the charity shop pile and accept I’ve lost £15 is there anything at all I can do to save it?

I’ve tried the coat hanger and the hairspray and both worked.

Fabric conditioner used to sort out static, back when I used to wear skirts. If you can't wash the skirt itself, try an underslip rinsed in Comfort or Lenor or whatever.

Ah lovely, I might just bung it in the washing machine and hope for the best. It also turned up reeking like petrol (and I mean reeking), I soon realised it was mothballs I could smell. It’s incredibly strong.

That’s the risk you take with second hand sites I guess 😞

Yes to everything mentioned already. However, if you find the skirt getting static while you are out and about, put some hand cream on and rub the excess on your legs or tights.

I also find that sometimes a small safety pin in the hem helps with grounding the static

Rub it with tumble dryer sheets - also do same to your tights if wearing

Try some anti static spray for clothes? Amazon has a few. I used to have some for clingy dresses/skirts and it worked really well.

I use this and it's amazing! Pricey, but very worth it!! Lasts forever as well amzn.to/3C1myq5

Hand cream on the tights works for me too.

An old fashioned slip (petticoat) will solve this.
I bought one years ago at m&s

A quick spray of hairspray will sort it.

This spray from John Lewis is brilliant: www.johnlewis.com/eddingtons-anti-static-spray-250ml/p703058

It’s £5 but lasts for ages (several years in my case!).
