Hats to cover thin hair at the back?

I've been losing a crazy amount of hair recently, and I'm feeling self conscious about how it looks, especially in patches at the back. I don't think I can pull off a wig, and a scarf might look a little hippie for work.

I do tend to suit hats, so I'm wondering if I can find something not too ostentatious that I can get away with at work.

Would a felt cloche hat be ok, do you think?

If you are losing patches of hair, having you seen your doctor?

Re wigs - as a long term wig wearer as I've been bald most of my adult life, I'm curious as to why you think you couldn't pull one off? They really are very easy to use, and comfortable, so if you want one, you should def have a go. I do feel for you though, its not a great experience to lose your hair, but there are lots of options.

Another option is head wrapping - can look beautiful but takes a bit of skill initially.

Re hats, I usually just wear a soft cashmere beanie in winter and a straw hat in summer. A cloche looks good, but somehow to me feels like an 'outdoor' hat, and may generate more questions than you want to answer.

Good luck whatever you decide.

What about a beret? You can get them very cheap online in pretty much any colour to match different outfits.

I think a combination of things caused the hair loss. Last year I went to the gp and he said I had a folic acid and vitamin D deficiency, and that my thyroid hormones were low, so he wanted to see if supplements would correct it. They seemed to help for a while, and he decided not to treat the thyroid. But now it's back with a vengeance.

I worry a little about a wig because she hair I do have is pretty long, so I'm not sure about fitting it under. And maybe a little worried that a wig would be itchy?

Berets might work. I'm sure I used to wear them at Uni.

My hair is very thin at the front and I wear berets a lot. If you can find a selection in colours that blend with your outfits they don't 'stick out' a lot if that makes any sense.
