Fingerless gloves

I need gloves I can write and type in. All the fingerless gloves I have are knitted and are too thick for me to use my fingers properly.

When I was a child I had knitted mittens that folded back on the fingers and thumb. Do such things exist in fabric, eg fleece?

I have something very similar to these from a local shop, maybe even the same make. The trick for these is that they are more wrist warmer than gloves and cashmere so they are surprisingly effective at keeping my hands warm even with bare fingers.

Plus I have typed in them!

Yes, I agree - wrist warmers rather than fingerless gloves. I wear them for WfH now it's got colder, and they're great. No restricted fingers, but all the warmth of fingerless gloves.

I have some cheapo ones from Amazon which are fine - warm but thin (these), but really want some Turtledove cashmere ones.

You need Brora cashmere wristwarmers

Dilbertian · 08/11/2021 18:43

This sort of thing, but not so chunky. I'm not convinced by wristwarmers. I want to be able to cover up my fingers when I'm not writing/typing.

these?

Gonegrey31 · 08/11/2021 18:49

My dd recently gave me some she had bought at the Royal Academy gift shop, I think they have an online shop. Brilliant, and just what my poor cold fingers need , I can type away etc

Dilbertian · 08/11/2021 18:56

The thumb doesn't uncover, Ciao. But that's the sort of thing I mean (in adult size).

Oh didn't realise they were kids ones, I googled adult convertible mittens Hmm
I'd cut a small hole in the thumb so you could pop your thumb out.

Turtledoves do lovely ones made from recycled cashmere. I love mine. Join the mailing list for a discount code.

Love turtledoves too. I struggle with being cold but these are very effective and so lovely.

BackBackBack · 08/11/2021 19:10

Another one to say wrist warmers. I was sceptical but they really do work.

I treated myself to some turtledoves but found they wore and became threadbare very quickly, which for the price was disappointing. Bought a 3 pack of Amazon knitted jobs and they have done the trick less than half the price.

DedalusBloom · 08/11/2021 19:11

I'm a florist so I get through a lot of gloves as I'm outside a lot of the time. I absolutely swear by turtle doves wrist warmers. Personally I wear latex gloves under them at work for a proportion of the time but this time of year when it's chilly but not freezing they are amazing without anything underneath. Your thumb goes through which pulls the warmers up to your knuckles. Cashmere makes a huge difference in terms of keeping you warm.

octopusrus · 08/11/2021 19:12

Turtle doves definitely!

adrianmolesmole · 08/11/2021 19:13

I bought these recycled cashmere ones, not very expensive, they are lovely.

TheFeistyFeminist · 08/11/2021 19:15

Turtle doves are without question the thing that keeps me functioning in cold weather. If my wrists are warm I can type, write, knit, sew. Fabulous things.

DareDevil223 · 08/11/2021 19:17

I have a couple of pairs of the Turtledoves fingerless gloves, they are so soft and light and come in gorgeous colours. Recycled cashmere so they are sustainable too.

Dilbertian · 09/11/2021 18:41

I wore wrist warmers today. They were certainly an improvement, and I had lovely warm wrists, but my fingers were still chilly. When not writing or typing I found myself tucking my fingers inside the wrist warmers, but they were never in there long enough to warm up.

It's like lockdowns and everything-by-zoom again. Except that this time I can't snuggle under a pile of blankets while I work with my feet resting on a hot water bottle.

Another Turtle Dove owner here. Can't explain how it is they keep your fingers warm when they're not covered, but they do. It's magic!

Wolfiefan · 09/11/2021 20:13

Love turtle doves.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 09/11/2021 21:09

Those of you saying you wear Turtle Doves wrist warmers, do you mean the ones that they call wrist warmers, or the ones they call fingerless gloves which have a thumb, but no fingers? Surely the actual wrist warmers are just like sleeves and don't cover the hands?

DedalusBloom · 09/11/2021 21:14

Thumb but no fingers. The residual heat generated between the rest of the hand/ fingers seems to be enough to keep the whole hand toasty.
TeaMeBasil · 09/11/2021 21:24

I got cashmere wrist warmers from hush, fingers stayed warm without needing any cover & I have terrible circulation and my fingernails usually go blue!
