Where can I get narrow fitting shoes that aren’t like something from the dark ages?

Just that really. I’ve got narrow feet. Sadly the only part of me that’s even remotely narrow. How they support the rest of me we don’t know, but it’s so hard to get shoes that fit. I’ve realised I’ve been buying shoes probably a half size short to improve the width but that’s not the answer, that’s just squashed toes. The specialist brands that I’ve found are really old fashioned looking. Are there any brands that lean towards narrow fitting that might work for me? Everything seems to cater for wider fittings.

I feel your pain! I have had narrow feet all my life and real difficulty finding shoes to fit. It is getting more complicated now as I am also developing bunions.I have hated shoe shopping my entire life because of it. My go to used to be Russell and Bromley or to buy shoes in Spain on the occasional trip there but there have been many seasons on my life where I have literally not been able to get anything on the high street to fit.I have given up now and wear boots, Birkenstocks ( thong style) or trainers . I have a pair of hotter brogues that aren't too bad with insoles but they couldn't be described as stylish and apart from the Birkenstocks and trainers none are exactly comfortable.I'll be watching this thread.

I'm in exactly the same situation! It's so odd that most brands seem to offer wide fitting options now but not narrow fitting. I'm sure we can't be the only ones with this issue.

Anyway, like a PP I got some work shoes from Russell and Bromley recently which are brilliant but cost me an arm and a leg.

I also bought the Joules Cheltenham boots which I saw recommended on here for people with slim feet/ankles and they've been great too.

Neither are exactly fashion forward but thankfully not quite down to Pavers/Hush Puppy level yet.

Look at Italian and Spanish brands as they tend to be a bit narrower.

Inchbyinch · 08/11/2021 10:41

Not just me then! I have bought from Hotter before because they do a few narrow fitting styles but there’s nothing in the winter styles that I could bring myself to buy. Just not my style. I’ll go back to looking at Russell and Bromley, pricey but if they fit it would be worth it. Boots are even more difficult because despite the skinny feet and ankles, I’m quite fat of calf. Lovely.

There's a FB group called Narrow Shoes UK Unite they might help you find stockists of EU designers? I remember my daintier friends like Russel & Bromley and Bally.

MenaiMna · 08/11/2021 10:55

Sorry that's "narrow feet UK Unite"

Inchbyinch · 08/11/2021 11:04

Really? I’ll check that out! I must stress that I am far from dainty, just weird of foot.

Hi I’ve had AA fitting all my life. I get mine from James ingliss . They have a website and catalogue.

goose1964 · 08/11/2021 12:56

Jones bootmaker always seen very narrow to me, I can't even get my toes in them

VillKrill · 08/11/2021 13:22

B width fitting here and I buy Russell and Bromley second hand on eBay - have built up a good collection that way!

Greyhairwarmheart · 08/11/2021 17:14

James Inglis and Special feetures sell narrow shoes. Some styles are old fashioned but others are ok.

KittyWithStripes · 08/11/2021 17:19

Russell and Bromley for me as well - especially Aquatalia boots which are a great investment, last for years

CarolynMartens · 08/11/2021 17:30

I found Bertie good for narrow feet but they don’t seem to be stocked in many places these days. Also some of the John Lewis brands aimed at a younger market - I can’t remember the names but if you have a look on the website you might find them.

JaceLancs · 08/11/2021 18:36

Tkmaxx often have Brazilian brands which are quite narrow and very like Italian shoes in styling my favourite are Carrano
Last time I was in Poland I was in shoe heaven as some lovely shoes in narrow fittings
Zara can be ok for me occasionally too

Valeriane · 08/11/2021 19:59

Carl Scarpa is amazing. I have ultra narrow and long feet and bony ankles and they're great.

Inchbyinch · 08/11/2021 22:19

This is so helpful! Thank you! I’m going to check these all out. Any ideas about where to find some of the European brands?

Narrow feet here too. I often find Dune and Aldo can be narrow fitting but not across the board, you have to pick carefully.

I don't tend to wear just shoes, always boots (can't fall off), sandals (strapped on) or trainers (laces).

bouncydog · 11/11/2021 08:31

@Inchbyinch - Ive had a lot of success with Peter Kaiser which you can actually buy from Amazon! They do tend to vary in width so you need to look at description because I think they do a width size. Charles Clinkard also stock and do online ordering. Have also bought fab short boots from Regarde le Ciel - again Charles Clinkard stock. Have also had success at John Lewis. Just depends what you're looking for style wise. Where I live we literally have 3 shoe shops so choice is really limited hence turning to online. Means waiting a few days but generally worth it.

Inchbyinch · 14/11/2021 10:43

I see Birkenstock do a narrow fitting. Not much I’d like but I might try the Chelsea boots.
