St*tch F^x -anyone fancy critiquing ?

Hi all. Had another box today and while I liked the things I'm not sure they're for me. It's the jeans I want advice on most please. Two pairs, one girlfriend- the lighter and one straight leg which feel great quality but I fear both may be too long.
Blouse is scratchy viscose but looks ok. Wrap top is so soft and comfy but is it dull? Maybe. Thoughts please?
Will have to post pics in two attempts

It’s kind of hard to tell because of the angles and lighting. Set phone on table at about waist height. Use timer to take pic of you standing by plain wall in better light!! You can crop your face out afterwards.

Anyway, some of the jeans are potentially nice - roll ups are a good look, especially with boots, either folded over twice or one bigger turn-up. (Latter might make your legs look shorter if you’re worried about being short!)

polkadotpjs · 08/11/2021 17:22

@Justbetweenus - I wondered how to do it! Knew pics weren't great ! Has anyone bought boots recently at £50 ish? I know I won't get probably even leather for that but anything more stylish than my knackered Chelsea boots would be great

I don’t think those boots are great, OP. Look a bit cheap and awkward. Leather ones from M&S worth a look. www.marksandspencer.com/wide-fit-leather-chelsea-ankle-boots/p/clp60478094

SparklingLime · 08/11/2021 17:36

If you’re returning all/most of the SF, perhaps you can spend a bit more to get leather boots? www.marksandspencer.com/leather-block-heel-ankle-boots/p/clp60507724

polkadotpjs · 08/11/2021 21:20

@SparklingLime I like those first ones thanks. Think the second are too long for my short arse legs! You make a good point about returning SF that it means I could spend more on shoes. I also just remembered I have some lush o blood patent Chelsea boots I've not worn yet. They're uncomfortable but il faut souffrir....and all that

Comfort is everything with winter boots! Sell them and buy comfy ones? M&S have loads of slightly different styles.

Gosh it all looks very safe and rather boring. Is this really the kind of stuff they normally send? I had toyed with the idea of signing up but I would be well disappointed with this - at the end of the day you just have jeans and a couple of fairly nondescript dark tops and you don’t have a whole “put together” outfit. It’s the kind of look I’d reserve for WFH or walking the dog. You have a great figure and could wear all sorts. The style of those boots is great - I have similar- great with opagues and short (or long dresses or skirts).

LadyCatStark · 09/11/2021 08:34

They’re all too big for you and boring for the price you’ll have to pay for them. DH started getting stitch fix boxes because he loves to jump on a bandwagon 🙄 but everything has been boring, dull and expensive and the only thing he has kept are things he would have chosen anyway for a lot cheaper from Next or TkMax etc 🙄🙄.

Candleabra · 09/11/2021 08:39

@LadyCatStark Boring, dull and expensive- sounds about right.

I was so disappointed in stitch fix, it’s a great idea. But they clearly send the same stock to everyone. I tried 3 or 4 boxes but they never listened to feedback. Simple Stuff like - any colour but no black. Box full of black clothes

polkadotpjs · 09/11/2021 09:21

I've had jeans I wear and wear from a previous box and a blouse but tbh have sent most back. I'll check price on the wrap too as I have to pay £10 fee anyway so if not too spendy I'll keep it
Meanwhile I have friends who've kept it all

The wrap top swamps you a bit. Your striped top is more flattering.

highlandcoo · 09/11/2021 13:18

OP I think you look fine in the jeans and the wrap top, but you could do just as well buying from Next online.
I have tried StitchFix a few times and had the odd nice thing, but it hasn't introduced me to amazing new styles or labels, which is what I had hoped for.
This month it was particularly disappointing. I had asked for stylish knitwear and was sent a very ordinary v-neck green jumper - admittedly cashmere - in that length that's neither cropped or long but just cuts across your hips - for £120 Shock
They also sent me an animal print dress that was almost a copy of one I'd bought from them in the spring, but less nice. So a waste of an item.
The rest was so bad that I suspect they were trying to offload leftover summer stock. It included a spotty cotton sleeveless jumpsuit and a bright blue and pink cotton sleeveless blouse, at £69! And to wear in November - seriously??
I've given them some very honest feedback and am thinking about cancelling my subscription.

I got excellent advice from someone years ago. If you're trying on clothes, look in the mirror and you don't instantly love it and want to buy it, don't. If you're trying to talk yourself into it, don't buy it.

I was thinking of trying stitch fix but this has put me off. I think the last outfit (jeans and wrap top) are ok, but I don't like the other shirt or jeans at all.

RaisedByPangolins · 09/11/2021 14:15

Agree with most others, the wrap top is the only vaguely flattering item and even that could do with a bit more colour (difficult to tell from photo but looks like a muddy brown?!)

Also you have about 3 different names on this s thread so far - might be worth reporting to HQ so that they can change them and make the thread easier to follow - only the ones in your original posting name are highlighted. Not being a dick, just trying to be helpful as people will miss your replies.

SmileyClare · 09/11/2021 14:23

In my experience, if you're umming and ahhing over new clothes, they'll get put in your wardrobe and never worn.

My rule of thumb is to only buy it if I love it and want to wear it immediately.

Every Stitch Fix thread I've read on here exudes disappointment from the Op. I would advise choosing your own clothes, I'm sure that would be more rewarding Wink

polkadotpjs · 09/11/2021 19:27

Luckily I don't post anything controversial! Thanks for the heads up
