Mine are just beginning to show and therefore faint. But annoying nonetheless. Im getting filler. Anyone else had this and how was it?

I have this done each year. I got lines very young in that area, all my female relatives are the same. I waited until they were quite bad before getting them filled. I think your plan is a good one rather than wait for the lines to get deeper.

I posted about this recently and am curious to hear of other peoples experiences.
I'm 'only' 35 but getting some smokers type lines above my upper lip and below my bottom lip. I've never smoked.
@Chippymunks do you get your lips filled because of lines on your actual lips? Or are you talking about lines above the actual lips? I've seen a dermatologist who has suggested lip filler in the lip border, as this can potentially help the 'smokers' lines. I'm terrified of having lip filler though because it always seems to look fake.

I had them in the lines above my lips. I also got smokers lines at around that age, or maybe late 30’s (I’ve never smoked). I had them filled at the age of 47 once a year for the last five years. It’s made a big difference but I should have started sooner. So the filler is in the actual smokers lines, the moustache area so to speak.

I have a little bit of filler in my top lip every two to three years too and that also looks nice.

Notonthenewrug · 06/11/2021 12:27

@Chippymunks thank you for your reply. I wanted filler into the actual lines but have been refused as I'm told they are too fine. I do understand this but they are still very much there and I'm very self conscious about it at my age. I keep getting told to do skin resurfacing but I've spent over £1000 on a microneedling treatment and also another treatment that involved hot rods on my face and a completely swollen dface for a week and it hasn't made any difference to the lines at all!

Chippymunks · 06/11/2021 12:37

That sounds really frustrating, when I was younger I did go to a Clinique counter and buy some filler make up stuff that hid the lines a bit. Would something like that be an option?
If it’s any comfort, if your lines do get a bit deeper then filler does work and isn’t too expensive. I pay about £270 per year for jowls, smokers lines and a tiny bit that’s left in each cheek. Then the next year maybe not the cheeks but the bit in my top lip.
TBH it’s good they are saying the lines are too fine rather than just taking your money.

Notonthenewrug · 06/11/2021 14:25

@Chippymunks I'll have a look at the Clinique filler, thank you.

I've had 2 doctors say the same, so I assume they are telling me the truth
However filler would cost around £250 and last a year. The resurfacing treatment he's recommended costs £400 a time and I'd need 3 sessions 3 months apart, which may or may not help. Plus it needs to be maintained each year! The main reason I was hoping for filler.
I'll see how the filler I'm the border of the lips goes, I've noticed my lips are definitely starting to loose volume, so it may help. I just done want to look fake!

I had filler in my lips - quite subtle and it did get rid of my lines. 4 years on it’s still good! Might need a little top up soon.

Okbutnotgreat · 06/11/2021 19:34

Had it done recently, just 0.5ml along my top lip line. The numbing cream was the longest part, it was 6 injections and over in minutes. My lip felt bruised for a day or two but that was all. The effect is really subtle and no one noticed but every time I look in the mirror I can see that my top lip no longer creases when I purse my lips or talk and I can’t tell you how much that has cheered me up. It cost £200, should last about a year and I will definitely do it again.

Okbutnotgreat · 06/11/2021 19:39

@Notonthenewrug I had the smokers lines on my top lip (sun damage rather than smoking) and tbh they’re still there if I pout but because the actual lip line is uncreased it really doesn’t bother me any more. I might have the actual lines filled a little next time but didn’t want to risk the area looking puffy so opted just for the lip line itself. Even my husband hasn’t noticed, I did it for me and I love it.

Notonthenewrug · 06/11/2021 22:50

@Journeynotdestination did you have the filler in your actual lips or just in the border? I'm having the border done but he said he'd go slow because we don't want to overfill. It's amazing it lasted 4 years.

@Okbutnotgreat that's great that you're so pleased with it. I want the same result, something subtle. Also, my mouth is the same, as I purse my lips or move my mouth a certain way I get creases and lines but several are now etched in. Did it hurt? Did you get much swelling?

Journeynotdestination · 06/11/2021 23:33

It was in my lips. Yes it’s crazy it’s lasted so long, I’m thrilled though as it’s saved me a fortune!
