This Barbour dress, thoughts?

Seems decent and warm for the season, would go with a lot of other things in my wardrobe, but wondering if it might be a bit stiff, I'm not used to corduroy...or tiers. It's very 'me' though.

I don't think it is too bad for the price/fabrics considering the price of polyester at Hush.

It's a bit Amish for my personal taste but that sort of thing is in right now. Go for it if you like it. I don't find cord especially stiff.

ANameChangeAgain · 04/11/2021 11:44

I like to see casual day dresses, I used to wear them a lot pre covid weight gain. It's the sort of thing that I would think looks nice on other people, but that I would be the wrong shape for.

Chippymunks · 04/11/2021 11:44

I’d wear that a lot, I have the style in different fabrics from other places and live in them

Reduceddutiesboredom · 04/11/2021 11:44

I love it!

4fingerKitKat · 04/11/2021 11:46

Love it. I have a cord skirt and don’t find it stiff at all. I want more corduroy in my wardrobe!

Pheasantlysurprised · 04/11/2021 11:48

Thank you! Love the Amish comment, I cant unseen it now Grin

I just like how simple it is. They never tell you what size the model is wearing so difficult to make a guess as to what size, dammit.

It’s a bit House on the Prairie for me.
Add some big white collars and sing Berries and Cream.
However, both those styles seem to be in.

Pheasantlysurprised · 04/11/2021 11:49

the style would also allow for a thin merino underlayer which appeals to me. I feel the cold..

I tend to wear dresses over the 4 seasons, to the extent there was a picture of me in jeans on a work noticeboard labelled “[my name] in jeans”.

Personally, l don’t think the high neck works, but l acknowledge we have winter months ahead. Speaking of which the sleeves seem to be neither one length or another. It might stop me dipping them in my dinner though.

ILoveShula · 04/11/2021 11:59

I'd look for one possibly without the tiers, and with a collar and cuffs, as that would make it more versatile.
Otherwise it's nice.

I really like that, and as a pear, that neckline would suit me.

Pheasantlysurprised · 04/11/2021 12:10

Oh I hate collars, they never sit right under coats and they make my neck itch. I would prefer this one more scooped but the crew style is great.
Arms fine too, for me.

Im not a fan of tiers but this style appeals to me because it gives it a little structure, whereas many cord dresses are truly voluminous and shapeless.
Still undecided though.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it often helps one see something that might have been overlooked. Not dipping sleeves in dinner is my fave!

I like that apart from the tier on the skirt - it would look great with a roll neck underneath with the roll neck sleeves sticking out the end of the dress sleeves. You could also wear with a t shirt underneath and a couple of buttons undone so it is quite versatile. And it has pockets!!!

StarlightLady · 04/11/2021 12:22

OP, you haven’t seen me at the dinner table on a bad day! Sauce on my sleeve, crumbs down my cleavage. And my mum tried so hard to bring me up as a nice girl at the table.

Sauce on my sleeve, crumbs down my cleavage

Now this is the title I want to use for my autobiography!

It is versatile, I agree.
As for the tiers, I wondered if the one at the back might fashion me a pert bum.

I love the colour and texture, would look great with plum wool tights and some ankle boots

Aderyn21 · 04/11/2021 12:35

Amish was the first thing I thought too. I really wouldn't but it - it doesn't even look nice on the model!

Aderyn21 · 04/11/2021 12:36

Sauce on my sleeve, crumbs down my cleavage.

Title of your sex tape? Wink

StarlightLady · 04/11/2021 14:06

I'm not sure I particularly helped about the dress, but pleased I've made some people's day.

stalkersaga · 04/11/2021 14:10

I like bracelet length sleeves, @StarlightLady. They are meant to highlight the delicate bones of the wrist, but indeed, as a shortie, they also help keep my sleeves out of my dinner Grin

Mercurial123 · 04/11/2021 14:11

I have a dress in the same design in cotton. I wear it a lot. I've had it 18 months and still love it.

WarmWinterSun · 04/11/2021 14:13

I like it. I don’t think it looks old fashioned in that colour.

TrueGrit54 · 04/11/2021 14:19

I like it, Justine Tabak (small British designer) does lots of dresses like this, but more colours and patterns. Her dresses are more expensive but you might like to take a look. I don’t work there I just like her stuff!
