Longer arms for glasses

MistySkiesAfterRain · 03/11/2021 11:49

I bought some glasses from Specsavers.

The rep convinced me to go for a small pair.

This is practical as my eyesight is minus 10 so as much as I would LOVE a bigger pair, the bigger they are then the thicker the lens, and there comes a tipping point where it does not fit. Current thickness just under 1 cm.

Problem is these are basically child's frames and the bloody arms do not fit over my ears properly. I was discussing getting new glasses with a friend and she said she had noticed they don't fit! As a result they sort of lean forward and I get headaches and they rub sometimes.

Oh for glasses that fit.

Can I get a new pair of just longer arms fitted on the frames?

I do want another pair of glasses but this is a cheaper option as the new lenses always have to be thinned and are at least £100-£150 alone for that.

Go back and get specsavers to sort it out. You can get replacement arms for most specs so they should be able to sort it out for you.

That shouldn't happen. Go back. Specsavers should adjust the arms so they fit properly. I've always bought form them and noticed the final fitting and adjustment service has massively reduced recently but if you go in and explain/complain they should sort it out.

Go back! I have the opposite problem as my head is very small. The dispenser at spec savers sounds crap. I always go to an independent but that's not an option for some I know

I’d go back to Specsavers and ask them to sort it.

I have a small head and I’ve found frames with a width of 48 to be the best fit for my face and head. If you look on the arm of the frame there should be 3 numbers which indicate the size of the frame.

Back to Specsavers I shall go.

Specsavers should replace the glasses if they sold you a pair that don't fit. I've noticed a lot of their ladies glasses have 135mm arms which is too short for me.
I recommend Ace & Tate. Glasses work out quite cheap. It's a simple pricing system. And lots of the frames are available in different sizes including 140mm and 145mm arms.

Go back, they will change them. I have done similar in the past.

Motherwell91 · 03/11/2021 14:01

Hi any specsavers branch should be able to.sort this for you. If you look on the ends of the arms it will have numbers the 3 digit number is the length on the arms so you want a number bigger than that. They should all know about fitting as its basic training so hopefully your get it sorted

Sounding like an echo, but go back. DH practically lives there when he has a new prescription, until the glasses are Just Right yes, I married Goldilocks :)

I don't understand why you bought child's frames? Specsavers should have stopped you really but since they didn't, they need to help sort you out so your glasses are comfortable enough to wear.
