What do you wear to kids parties?

I've got one in a couple of weeks - never been to one since I was a child lol and I have no kids of my own.

Are trainers acceptable and jeans or best to go dark jeans or casual dress and Chelsea boots?

How casual are they? Can someone post some options please - I don't want to be over or under dressed

All the ones I've been to - anything goes. Jeans, t-shirt and trainers or a casual dress and sandals, dungarees with a t-shirt or blouse, jeans with a smart top and Chelsea boots/sandals, maxi dress with trainers.....honestly it doesn't matter. The party is for the kids, the adults just stand around drinking tea and making polite conversation. You might get roped into pass the parcel or dishing out food. Wear whatever you love wearing!

Thank you!

Whatever you wear on the school run. Be prepared to have to get involved in soft play/bouncy castle/party games though.

Jeans, jumper, trainers. Think 'what I wear to Tescos'.

What sort of party?
Soft play? Remember matching socks and clothes easy to climb in just in case
5* Hotel which the friends parents own? You might want to go smarter. (This actually happened to me... I had no idea who that the parents were one of the richest families in the area!)

Depends on the party. Is this a normal kids party that you’ve been roped in to help at (wear old jeans that you can move easily in and won’t matter if they get dirty) or more of a general party that just happens to be for a child’s birthday (the sort of thing people have for a one year old). In which case probably something a bit more dressy but low key

I'm not sure there's a hard and fast rule.

When I use to take da to the whole class sift play parties there was parents dressed casually (love the Tescos wear a analogy). Some dressed nicely in dresses etc and some completely dressed up.

This will sound judgy (maybe it is?!) but I often found the dress indicated what group the intents came from and also their attitudes!

I preferred the down to earth "just off to Tescos" look and the down to earth parents who shared my practical and comfy dress sense.

I just didn't gel with the "keeping up appearances" PTA alpha mummies who came in expensive dresses with hair and make up done 🤷‍♀️

I normally wear jeans, t shirt and converse! Sometimes with wet hair 😂

Usually pretty casual, but if it's on the weekend I'll try not to look at slovenly as I usually do on the school run
