Does keratin hair treatment work for wiry grey hairs?

Since having DD (5 years ago) and a horrendous stress period where my hair literally fell out in clumps, my hair texture has been completely bizarre.

It used to go into lovely defined curls, but now, no matter what product I use on it or how I care for it its just a frizzy, wiry mess.

If I straighten it then it's lovely and soft, but starts to go back to being frizzy and kinky by lunchtime.

I've had a bit of a realisation that it seems to be the grey hairs that are out of control. I'm only greay on the top half of my head, and the underneath hair is still (texture wise) like it used to be. Instead of being curly the grey hairs are just zig zag kinked. Almost like a 90s crimp but in all different directions.

Having tried curly girl, plopping, no silicone, loads of silicones (in desperation!), coconut oil, egg white, cutting it all off and letting it grow again, I'm now wondering if a Brazilian blow dry / keratin treatment to straighten it might be the answer.

Has anyone had any experience of how it works on grey hair? Don't want to drop 100 quid on it and have the same problem with the grey ones doing what ever they feel like!

Thx

I've got a few thick, white unruly hairs coming through over the last few years and the treatment always keeps them in check. You could go for a consultation at the hairdresser's before taking the plunge. Hope it works for you.

Didn't work for me. I have done it around 10 years back (late 20s) and it worked but have some grey hair now and it somehow didn't work.

You can buy the kit from Amazon and do it yourself…it’s about £25 but you have to follow the instructions very closely and it takes a good couple of hours of hard work! The results are the same as the hairdresser if you do it properly.

I realise I didn’t really answer your question - I don’t know about grey hairs but was letting you know incase you’d rather find a cheaper alternative.

Thanks. I'm not confident I'd do a good job myself. Perhaps after I've had it done once I'll be able to replicate what's done in the salon. But worth knowing, so thank you.
