This coat, with a skirt?

I really like this coat, although a tad too long for me (am happy to shorten if possible, although I am aware it could be tricky) as it would make a great alternative to my wool coat the the wet weather prevails, and are roomy enough to layer beneath warmly.

Not too expensive either for a long coat and would come in very handy.

But would it be worth purchasing if I need a few inches off? I am 5'4.
Clean to wear with midi skirts and jumpers/cardi's underneath, tights and boots.

Could I also ask, what style of bag you might carry with this? - I can only see it as working with a large shoulder shopper, which is ok as I don't really do 'little chic bags' :)

Identifying the colour in the photo would be a big help as I cant decide whether it is olive or something else......

Looks nice - it's definitely a very country / riding / dog walking look though so I can imagine it going well with some dresses and skirts but not every style. A bag that suits that style would probably be a more casual or classic style rather than a trendy high fashion one.

I'm 5ft3 and it looks very long to me. Usually when something is lower calf on taller models it's almost floor length on me. It is described as ankle length so that would worry me - I'd probably need at least 6 inches off. If you had to shorten it then how would that affect the position of the zip and press studs, would they come almost all the way to the hem?

Thanks!

Ive tried one on, although by a different brand a few yrs ago and it was lower calf on me, but yes, too long. I didn't have the 'gravitas' to flap around in it with any grace whatsoever Grin

The zipper is higher up I think so no problem lopping 6 inches off, but there is a fanned flap at the rear which might be tricky. I'd be happy to pay for alteration if I decided to get one.

They offer a shorter version but it is too short, at hip length.

I love a really long coat so I would leave it, not sure if that’s the navy or olive. Personally it’s a real country coat rather than town, but maybe I am a bit old fashioned! I think it would be good with midi skirts and boots. I would hope the pockets were sufficient and forego a bag. It is more a dog lead as accessory than a handbag Grin.

Oh I don't know! I saw a lot of older women wearing them in cumbria, mostly out shopping, they always looked fabulous, to me. However they were usually 5'6 or taller :(

I really love it. (Mid thirties, urban)

Just to say, I have a Jack Murphy coat still going strong after 8 years. Lovely and well made!

TrueGrit54 · 28/10/2021 14:56

Thinking about it I meant it would look out of place in Camberwell. Perfect for Cumbria.

immersivereader · 28/10/2021 15:01

How tall is the model too? She's probably at least 5'8

Pheasantlysurprised · 28/10/2021 15:06

I would have to get it shortened so wouldn't want to risk it is that would be too difficult to lop a few inches off.
I'm still semi rural and in changeable weather!
